Cool I'm goin' to the Bacchus parade in New Orleans!!!

Yup, hitting the road in just a bit, driving overnight to my sister's place in Slidell, grabbing a power nap, then going into NOLA for the parade! For those that don't know it, Drew Brees is the King of Bacchus this year.

Sis & her husband are friends with a guy that has a place with a balcony right over the parade route, near the end of the parade, they're throwing a big party, and I'm goin' to it! The g/f and her daughter are making the trip as well. Oh, I should mention that the friend's next door neighbor happens to have been wearing a white jersey, gold helmet with a black fluer di lis on it, and scored a touchdown in that getup on last Sunday...he's rumored to be attending the same party I'm going to...if it's true, I'll try to post a photo or two when I get back on Wednesday...

"...New Orleans is 800 miles away, we have a full tank of gas, half a pack of twinkies (hey, I don't smoke! ), it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses....HIT IT!!!"

....y'all behave yourselves, y'hear?

Have a great time!

I can relate to it back when the Braves finally won the World Series back in 95!

Enjoy it bro!

PS - Tell those LSU folks that I said "ROLL TIDE"!!!

First report...

...I'm starting to recover from the experience...

Parade was a blast, Brees was in the first float, happened real fast, and was a bit of a let-down, I was hoping for him to be in later in the festivities.

However, the rest of the parade was a blast once I got over that!

The "special guests" did not materialize, sadly, but I'll share the situation now:

The guy (Chris) who's balcony we were all partying on is Jeremy Shockey's next door neighbor. Apparantly, Jeremy had mentioned stopping by last night, but I'm guessing he had a "better offer" and was elsewhere. C'est la vie! I still have had a complete blast!

Back in the office today, whew...what an experience.

The parade - awesome, forgot how much fun that was, the balcony version, ruined me for any other way to go!

No JShock at the party, but he was next door, on his balcony, and saw him at various times throughout the night, he was having fun, and yelling & waving at everyone, including us. His party was insane (as you might expect), so I don't blame him for not coming over to visit our much more sedate gathering.

The overall visit, well...what an experience. I hadn't been "home" since Katrina, and while most of the devastation is now cleaned up, it is quite stunning how much has changed, how much is GONE.

It was still good to see home, and see that the people there, despite some of the (BS) negative press are moving forward with their lives and still the amazing, fun, happy people that they always have been...
