Guess sometimes it takes a while for 'em to find "home"....

I just spent $3000 on Lasik, so I know I can't buy it. My wife told me if I wanted to buy a Roscoe 3000 I would have to sell either my 3006 or 3005. |

I currently use a 5 string Sadowsky and 5 string Rob Allen. I tend to favour the back pup on the Sadowsky play towards to bridge on both basses. Saw Jimmy Haslip, want a 6 string that looks great. This bass might fit the bill if its set up well and has some of that tone that I am looking for/used to. I played have played my friends Ken Lawrence as well as another bass with the Bart 3 band. Those both seem to lack a lot off bass boost but then again I'm used to the Sad that has more than I'll ever need.

We ship every bass tuned to standard pitch.

What gauge and brand strings do use with Roscoe? Not sure what this will be coming with. I read with interest the Roscoe thread where folks are discussing different string brands with different pres and hearing a difference.
Of and what's the construction of Jimmy Haslip's current bass? Just curious. I'm sure I'll sound just like him by the weekend. |

Suffice it to say, I worked at Bass Central for 5 years, and unboxed/uncased thousands of bass guitars from dozens of high end builders. Not a single one was tuned below standard pitch. Quote: |

| We ship the basses with D'Addario XL nickel-wounds, guages (for 6) as follows:
.032 .045 .065 .085 .100 .125
I like the strings, they're reliable and sound pretty good, but personally I use DR Black Beauties (same guages exactly, surprisingly!), as I prefer the tone and they last FOREVER.
(They also just look cool. ) Quote:

If you REALLY want to get Jimmy's thing, you gotta set it up with the strings backward (he strings a lefty bass like a righty! ). This worked perfectly for me last weekend.

Did the meet and greet thing after with my 13 year old son and mentioned that we were bass players but righty. He suggested that we not do it his way since he made it a lot harder for himself. It sure looks weird! Cool guys all round and a great show. |

This bass far exceeds my expectations in every way. Of course it is stunning to look at and the craftsmanship is second to none. Its a work of art. The pictures from TB and the eBay sale do not do it justice. I wasn't sure about the gold buts but it works for this bass very well. I'm very happy with how it sounds and plays. The seller said it would come with old DR High Beams but those sound great to me. I can't imagine what news strings would sound like.
I think the Sadowsky will be gathering dust for a while and I expect I'll be looking for a fretless 6er sometime down the road. Heck there might be a Sadowsky and Rob Allen for sale in the not too distant future.
I do believe that this bass has indeed found a home. |

You know where to look for a fretless to go with it right now... |

You know where to look for a fretless to go with it right now... | Indeed I do. Although I think I'd get lost without fret markers like my RA.
You are right this bass has a lot of tones and I like having mid control which is the one thing I miss on my Sad. Different animals certainly. I think this bass might evn smoke my friends Ken Lawrence. Sure does in looks and the pre seems to have more balls that's for sure. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
