Interesting Basses In Orlando

I ran across a few pics at Bass Central, that are interesting to say the least.

Can the Gardfather pleas enlighten us?

Justin

It was a custom order for an international customer that went south at the last moment, and Bass Central volunteered to give them a home.

Actually, despite what it looks like, they sound pretty damn good. Not like your "typical" Roscoe, a bit more "old school" (think 60's Gibson, but useful ), and they look pretty OK as well...

As much as they may not be my thing, they are cool in their own right. Also, that was very cool of BC to take them. That's what you get when you used to work there though, a great working friendship.
I hope they find a good home.

I bet the bridge(middle) pickups on them sound great soloed, probably a real P vibe.

I'd definitely be curious to hear them. In general I'd suggest that the standard Roscoe pickup placement is sacrosanct, but if it works...right on. (If anything, I'd prefer to hear the sound with the neck pickup in the sweetspot...essentially moving things the other way... a la my Sad Metro and the Zon S/C's.)

If the bridge pickup was just a little closer to the bridge it would almost look like an Alembic setup.

Hmm..... I'd sure be curious as to how they sound.

I certainly hope though that BC informs any online customers that the p/u's are in non-standard locations.

It might be cool to add a 3rd p/u near the bridge. You could add some cool p/u switching options!

And, it would be very unique Roscoe!

I love Roscoes, but I hate Buckeye Burl. I don't like the vomitous looks or the "softening of the sound" it provides.

But what the hell do I know?

Probably about as much as Gard.

Seriously, you are right Bob, many Buckeye Burls look a wee bit pukey.

Those basses seem to have very unusual pickup placement compared to where Roscoe pickup routs are normally placed - looks like a special request by the party that originally ordered them.

Gentleman,

I lovingly would refer to These As the "Gard Customs". The BEB is in Fact gone. It lasted one Day!!!!!. While the Great Angler At Roscoe prefers the Usual PU Placement, I would have to Say this is definitely a Great idea and sounds Great As Well. Definitely rock PU placement and tone.

..."Gard Customs"....that isn't what they're referred to here in the shop...

They were very unique, and I can see them appealing to a lot of players that are looking for something a bit more "traditional" than our usual pickup placement.
