Introducing Miss Annabelle

Here is my new to me Century Signature V #5894 (Miss Annabelle)

Miss Annabelle is sporting a beautiful:

Curly Amboyna Top with Sapwood and matching Headstock
Nicely Striped Mac Ebony Fingerboard
Luscious Diamondwood Nut
Gorgeous Dianna Ross Mahogany Back
Maple/Padauk/Purpleheart Wedge Neck
Accessorized with Light Hipshot Tuners and Bridge
Roscoe Bartolini Pickups
Providing all the Bite with no unruly Bark, an Aguilar 3 Band Preamp.
(At this point I have no plans to change out the Aguilar)

Please excuse the quality of pics, I am still trying to learn my Nikon D80.

Closest to the neck: Master volume
Closest to the pickup: Blend
Straight down from that: Midrange cut/boost (push/pull for 400/800 hz)
To the back: Stack treble/Bass cut/boost

Very nice Clint! Where in the world did you score that one?
Beautiful looking top!

How's the Mahogany body sound?

I picked the bass up from a local guy. The Mahogany seems to have a nice acoustic tone about it similar to Cedar but maybe a little more compressed, it works well with the Aguilar preamp. At just under 10 pounds it is stout but the extra mass seems to produce a really nice tone. Weight wise to me it feels like I am playing a mia jazz bass.

Gorgeous bass Clint! I bet it's got a lot of warmth to the tone.

The bass is really warm which really surprised me when I played it for the first time. I have always thought the Aguilar preamps had a real nasal sounding mid and have never been a fan, but with the wood combination and Roscoe Bart pickups the mid is much smoother. My spare Demeter preamp and Bart Classic pickups will be staying on the shelf.

She thought it looked very nice and it matches nicely with the Amboyna top on Madison my CS Plus. I will have to take a picture of the two side by side.

For now!

That would be a nice temporary fix for GAS down the road.

Just trying to keep it real!
