Just played a used LG3005 in Wilkes Barre PA

...in their Music Go Round store!

$1500 - it was funny. The folks in the store weren't aware of what this was when it came in since the case said "Roscoe." They thought it was a knockoff brand - then they opened the case.

Looks like a spalted maple top, cedar back, purpleheart board. Don't know what the pre-amp was but it has top end like crazy (not a lot of bottom, though, so it's probably not a Bartolini). There was a little too much top end for me, but couldn't tell what the pre-amp was.

I measured the scale, and it's actually MORE than a 35." The distance to the 12th fret was actually 12 3/4, which would make it a 35 1/2 scale. Yet, it was easier to play than the 34 scale Ibanez SR506 with its thin profile neck.

I think I'm going to have to do some reconsidering here, since I really do need a sixer (realized that after playing the 5).

Z, any chance you can get some photos or a serial #, so I can try to identify all the particulars?

Eh, it was time for a change. I figure after 7+ years here, most of the long term cats know most everything about me anyway, why not give 'em the last name too?

I'm going back on Tuesday, so if it's still there, I'll do that - unless Eric wants to beat me to it. Where to you put the production number so I can phototize it?

Eric - gotta check it out. If you like fivers, you'll be hooked.

Z, it should be on the back of the headstock at the very tip, like this:

I'm considering a trip down to check it out (I'm about 45 minutes north). Too bad I am all sorts of strapped for cash right now and couldn't afford it no matter how killer it was!

Splendid condition - not a mark on it from what I could see. Purpleheart board was great too.

When I got home, I picked up my Agile to see if I still really liked it and went, "Nope" - back on the block it goes.

Gard - is the string spacing different on a 5 than on a 6?

18.3 is better than 16.5 (at least for me, anyway...).

Thanks for the info!

Actually, the "official" numbers are 18.15mm for the 5 and 18.3mm for the 6.

The serial number most likely won't be in our database, but it points to a early 2000's completion, probably approximately 2002-03. I'll take a peek at things Monday to see if it happens to be one of the rare pre-5K serial numbers we do have the specs on.

Hoping it's still there on Tuesday. Couldn't believe how effortless it is to play.

(Note to self...don't play ANYTHING else when you walk into a store. Nothing compares...well, almost nothing.)

Thanks for the specs, Gard. So from what you're saying, spacing on the 6 is a little wider than the 5.

Visited the store again today...

...and it's gone. Someone purchased it on the 19th. They said they saw it on the Internet and it was shipped out of town. Maybe a 'lurker" picked it up

Guess it's like Sam's Club - when you see it for the right price, buy it...'cuz it won't be there the next time.
