I also agree that the used price of Roscoes is not true reflection of their true worth. I would have bought mine used, if I could have found what I wanted because IMO Roscoe are a great value used. I couldn't so I bought new, but I have an agreement with myself to never sell it.

Just FYI, I watch used MTD prices as well and I think their used price as a percentage of the original retail is real similar to Roscoes. Spectors seem to be lower than these two. Just my observations.

You guys have to keep in mind almost all basses take a good 30% or so hit from the new price, no matter who it is. In some rare cases you can get near to what you paid for it, but almost every maker takes it. One of the better deals I can see is a sad metro going for abour 2700 new, and you can get about 2000 for it used (people shoot for 2200 all the time, but they don't go so quick). I'd say 2700 is pretty standard for a used MTD in mint condition.

It's just how it goes, nothing to do with the makers rep at all. You'll find Alembics taking more of a hit usually. DON'T EVER order new unless you are sure you are holding on to it. ( I've been guilty, but I am pretty sure my latest Roscoe is staying!)

+1

IMO Pedulla's take it the worst though. You can pick up nice used Buzz and Thunderbasses for $1200-1500 and they retail very close to Roscoe and MTD's.
