The Last Century STD Custom!!!

Hi Roscoe Fans,

I´m so glad to share with you the pics of the last Century Standard Custom, a series that is closed with this beautiful instrument. The fortunate customer is a bass player from a remote city in Colombia.

I need to confess that when this baby arrive to my home on last week,I was thinking in remaining with this bass and refunds the money to my customer…Only an evil thought…ahahahaha.

The specs of this great instrument are:
Mahogany body
Redwood top
Bart’s CB Slanted PU´s
Bart Preamp
Maple freatboard

How sounds this bass? Terrific I was blown away when I plug this in my little SWR LA60 test amp that is my primary tool of sales (Setting flat EQ), I can´t stop of playing, very robust sounds, great slap tones and definition , I feel like driving a Truck !!! Thanks at Roscoe factory for this wonderful bass.

If you are interested I can post more pictures of others CSC basses made exclusively to South American bass players in this thread… but if you are a serious Roscoe collector bad news, your collection isn´t completes without one of theses babies…

Blessings and enjoy the pics!!!

...we can still make one happen, in a Century Signature...there's no upcharge for "slanted" pickups in any of our carved top basses, or "straight" pickups either (i.e. in an LG).

Thumbs up

Awesome looking bass Tommy!

I didn't even notice at first that the body wasn't carved. Beautiful top wood!

Mahogany body
Redwood top

PHEWWWW!!!! Now that is an absolutely gorgeous combo.

Ok Gard, we need to talk....

Here it is:

Century 6 (maybe 7) string
Mahogany body
Redwood top (maybe exhibition maple)
Black Ebony Board
Nordstrand pup's
Audere Preamp

What's the characteristics of a redwood top as compared to maple? Not really all that familiar with redwood tonal qualities... It's sure as heck pretty though.

PE -

Redwood is actually quite soft (you can put a big mark in it with a fingernail when it's unfinished!) and light. Tonally, it's nothing like maple at all, very warm and round sounding. It does sound very good with mahogany, sort of punchy/fat/warm together, with ash it gets a bit edgier, but still nothing like maple....but yes, it is indeed pretty stuff.

Have you guys ever done anything with Paduak? The color tone reminds me of the rosewood but the grain is very different.

I've heard on occasion of it being used in instruments, again, know very little about its tonal qualities. It's very dense/hard though and has a beautiful light sapwood on some peices. The saw dust from it will mess ya up a bit if your not careful around it though.

We've used Paduk for fingerboards a few times, and as stringers in our wedge necks. Nice stuff to be sure, but we never felt it was attractive enough as a top wood, so it hasn't happened yet. However, yes, if someone ordered it, we could certainly do it!
