Lead Sheets

Gonna share this folder out for a few days - just a collection of charts/lead sheets/bass solo transcriptions, etc... I've acquired and/or written over the years converted to PDF.

They're labeled such that the file names should be pretty descriptive - Help yourselves to any of it if you want - Like I said I'll leave the shared access open for a few days.

NICE, Brian! Thanks, man...this is awesome. Kinda' funny, I've been meaning to organize all of my stuff in a single location, and just haven't gotten around to it. You should see me search for a chart when I need one. Great stuff in here.

Wow Brian,

You've amassed a helluva catalog . Now if I just knew what all the dots n' squiggles meant, (or if I could keep time)

God Bless, Ray

YW all, always happy to pay it forward.

One of these days I'll break down and type `em all into Finale but..... I imagine I'll have to be REAL bored to stomach that task... LOL!

Ray, some of them have TAB (which to me looks like a math problem gone wrong ) if that helps.

I still have a mental block with Finale....it's faster for me to grab the manuscript paper and pen than it is to curse and hack my way through the application. I've got chicken-scratch charts from a session last week to prove it. One of these days I'm going to sit down and work my way through it. Watching an experienced arranger navigate through Finale is a pretty awesome thing to witness.

Oh, I'm gonna learn to read. And this just may be what it takes for me to get my butt in gear.

Thanks again,

I'm with ya Jerry - I hate it... I'd rather write them for many, many reasons. I like it to be able to quickly transpose something; seems like everyone I play with has their own preference of what key they play stuff in and I suck at transposing on the fly..... SO many years getting the synapses to connect the dots to the instrument it's like fighting instinct to change it, for me... i.e. I see a Bb and that's where my hands go - period...

Also do a lot of arrangements for commercial pieces at some local studios too and they insist on having the scores and parts NOT done in my personal hand, understandable, so I know enough about it to fulfill that, otherwise, I don't ever open it.

What's this "alphabet"? Does "alphabet" come standard on a Roscoe? I'll check the control cavity.

I can "read" at a very elementary level, but I'll figger this stuff out.

God Bless, Ray

Woo hoo - I feel vindicated to hear that! After all these years I still struggle with transposing on the fly. With all the "practice" I get at it, you'd think I'd be good at it by now.

A few years back I had similar struggles with Photoshop...and then one day, the light bulb illuminated the room. Layers? I get it now. I keep hoping I'll have a similar revelation with Finale.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing your library with us! LilRay...let's get to work, my man! Next week: Bootsy. The week after that...you take the head on 'Donna Lee' and I'll fumble through the changes.

Ray, I just remembered a paper I had stashed in my archives, you may find it useful in your reading quest. If it's too basic shout back at me, I'm sure I have something more advanced around too.

Also, a good online reff. resource:
