LG-3006 Hipshot A style / B style?

I want to try to make Hipshot B style/aluminium upgrade on my LG3006... "A" has nice look but I think "B" is more open sounding bridge, not so compressed as "A" with little more bottom... has the B style bridge - 6 string (0.75) same mounting holes as A style - 6 string (0.75)? Did somebody made this upgrade already? Some Roscoes owners try to "open sound little bit" they make pups and preamp upgrade but I think bridge can also change sound that way....what do you think? Thank you W.

Saw your thread in the 'Basses' forum as well. Not sure if both will survive, but since I posted in that thread, I'll quote myself here...

Just my take, but I'd be surprised if you get what you're after by swapping out the bridge (and losing out on some of the innate setup characteristics associated with the bridge that was designed for the bass). If you really need things more "open," my thought would be to consider a different pre-amp, or more realistically (and honestly), a different instrument. Good luck...

Some observations/comments re: Hipshot A versus B

The B is a fine bridge, but it is more suited to the flatter angle between the neck and body of a Standard. There is a slight angle in the neck pocket of the Custom and Signature series basses, and this can end up with the saddles on the B style bridge being a bit up in the air compared to the A style we use that has a custom compensated radius to the base plate.

Sonically, I frankly don't hear much of a difference between the two bridges, all things being equal.

As for location and holes in the body, no, they are not the same, so you would need to make sure you correctly located the bridge, and drill new mounting screw holes.

If there's anything else we can help you with, please let us know!

People who love bass guitars are everywhere!...I think I'm first Roscoe owner over here, your instruments are known over here...I was first Ken Smith owner in 1995 and first MTD535 owner in 2004. After I get these basses few czech guys ordered some of these basses...so I just hope you have enough Roscoes on stock...

(just kidding)
