When you finally decide to pull the trigger on a custom Roscoe, what tops are you looking at, what pickup and preamp combos are you debating, what type of fingerboard are you planning to go with?
Just curious. |

I've always found any other location to be inconvenient as you must feel around to find it, and then it's pointing down and needs to be looped back around to get to the strap.
On topic for this thread, I think the specs I'd go with if ordering another would be:
Century Std. VI
Alder body
Figured Walnut top
Stock neck
Spalted Purpleheart sapwood fingerboard (little to no purple )
Diamondwood nut
Bart/Roscoe pickups (possibly to be swapped with Nordstrand Big Splits aftermarket)
Aguilar OBP-1 (add passive tone control)
or a fretless, a slight variant of the "Gard model":
Century Std. VI
Black Limba body
Bubinga top
Wenge Wedge neck
Birdseye Maple Diamondwood fingerboard
Diamondwood nut
Bart/Roscoe pickups (possibly to be swapped with Nordstrand Big Splits aftermarket)
Audere 4-band pre
I really like the Century body style and to me it looks even better when not carved. Between that and the lower price, I'm surprised we don't see more Centry Standard models. |

You have an Icon 6 fretless - ebony board? I'll lay $$$ that it doesn't have 19mm string spacing.

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!
And now with a shot fridge, microwave AND diswasher, (not to mention TWO kids in college now, guess our next $3000 is going for....) Sorry, Jay - I'll think I'll have to live vicariously through Jeff's Roscoe dream for the forseeable future.

Fretted:
Ash Body - Enhanced Grain
Flamed Myrtle Top (Kinda like the one on your site! )
Maple/Purpleheart/Wenge neck
Either Ebony FB with Sapwood, or Figured Katalox... Can't make up my mind on that one.
Abolone FB dots with Ab. "S"
Bart soapbars with 3 band Bart pre.
Satin finish
Frettless:
Ash Body - En. Grain
Flamed Redwood top
Same neck as above
Black diamondwood fb with lines
Same electronics and pu's as above
Satin Finish
The only thing that I am on the fence with is the neck. I would really like to know the neck diamentions of the wider string spacing neck option and the "thin" neck profile option compared to stock.
I am really looking for a fast profile...
Cheers.

Sorry, Jay - I'll think I'll have to live vicariously through Jeff's Roscoe dream for the forseeable future. | It's all a dream for me as well, for the time being. I wanted to order a fretless like that but had to settle for a great deal on a used LG3005 which is working out fine as far as covering the "fretless Roscoe sound" for now. Given that I'm taking delivery of a custom SKB this week that I spent way more than I should have on, it will be awhile before I'm ordering any basses, but the next will most likely be one of the above |
