Maple fretboard vs. Purpleheart fretboard

Thought I'd put the question here first since it's in regard to Roscoes made with these fingerboard woods.

Difference in sound? Warmth? Mids? Stability?

It's Dio De Los Muertos out here!

I personally prefer Purpleheart much better than Maple.

To me it's very close tonally with Maple having slightly more upper end sizzle and P-heart having a little more mids and slightly warmer tone overall.

Where P-heart wins out in my mind is with it's stability...it's very stable, something I can't really say with Maple, specifically Birdseye.

I'd choose P-heart any time over Maple, but for some reason, people have a thing for Maple boards.

Y'know for a Stillers dude, you're allright...

...tonally, they're very similar to my ear, I'd say that maple has a slightly "drier" "snap" to the attack than purpleheart, otherwise not much of a difference at all...

...stability-wise, man, they're both awesome, if we're comparing MAPLE to purpleheart, not BIRD'S EYE maple to purpleheart (bird's eye can be a bit wobbly [NOT exceedingly so] when compared to straight grained maple).

Yeah I find them to be very similar stability-wise when comparing straight grain hard maple to p-heart. Tonally I find maple to be a little more open sounding and less compressed, p-heart is not overly compressed like an ebony though, just slightly. I actually find maple a little warmer overall. P-heart has some sort of high-mid emphasis that makes it sound a little harsh to me. I agree with Gard about the drier snap, as well.
