Monkeee bidnez

....so, we've had a few of our OLDER basses come in for some maintenence issues and general fix-me-up work, and we had four at once from the "old times" before fancy carved tops and 2+2/3+2/3+3 headstocks...

In chronological order (to our best ability to tell), here they are, starting with "old #1", which is the prototype of the Skyscraper bass, which then evolved over time into the SKB series you see now. This bass is "living" in the shop, so that's why no knobs, etc, etc.

Here's a closeup of the back, matching flame maple to the front:

Headstock, front and side views. This is the only non-tilt-back bass headstock that I am aware of on a Roscoe bass:

Next is a bookmatched front and back flame maple - without a "core" - Skyscraper, in PURPLE....hey, it was the 80's, right?

Back shots, by the way, the "monkey grip" was an option to have or not - obviously, this one didn't have it!

Now, a fretless 4, "none more black"....speaks for itself, right?

An early fretless LG with monkey grip (belongs to a fellow TBer - we know him well in the shop, but I can't remember his s/n here for the life of me....). This one has been posted before, but these are the most recent shots.

Here's the back, no fancy back, just the ash (which doesn't show up all that well as it isn't "enhanced"):

Headstock front & back shots, the back shows the really neat red veneers that were used on this one:
