Question Music Related Stuff to do in Portland , OR

Any Roscoeheads live in or near Portland, OR, or visit there enough to recommend some cool music stores or music related stuff to do while there? Any Roscoe dealers there?

I'm going to be there all of next week with nothing to do. I'm traveling with my wife on a business relate trip (her's) and will be able to go exploring during the day and actually a couple evenings too.

Let me know!

Have a blast, Joe! I love the Portland area. It's been a few years since I've been there (unfortunately) but overall I've been there roughly a half-dozen times. Great music scene - lots of blues, jazz, and terrific original music as well. Tons of culture, some great coffee, and if you're a bookstore junkie, you'll be very happy.

Thumbs up

Bass NW! That would be a fun day!

Jerry,
I love coffee and books and it would be real cool to find a good blues and/or jazz club.

Should be fun!

I bet the drive would be very nice too, some pretty territory along the way from Oregon to Washington.

True that. Some horrendous traffic too. Head out of Tacoma at the wrong time, and you'd swear you were in the SF bay area.

Joe, if you do make it there, please play that pine Roscoe (assuming they still have it in stock) - I'm really curious to get an idea of the sound of that one.

Lots of traffic =
...of course timing is everything. maybe I can find a good time to go/come.

I've never seen a bass made our of soild pine. That would have to be real light. If I go I'll definitely check that one out.

Bad traffic = part of why I live in Greensboro, NC now.

Solid pine bass = killer tone!

IMO, well worth the drive. Traffic shouldn't be too bad if you head up there in the morning. I drove from Portland to Seattle so my arrival time was about 10:30 and it was a smooth drive.

Portland has the best beer in the world. Not sure about musical points of interest though.

Agreed, not bad if you leave portland after early morning rush-hour. Give a shout if you drive up, I work about 2 blocks from BNW, will treat you to a good cup o coffee.

Good Luck Joe, have fun. But remember to look out for Sasquatch:

...However, it appears he can handle himself just fine against aliens, etc.... (quite impressive)

Most beautiful drives in Oregon
US 101 on the coast. (Treat the wife to a side trip.)
US 30 through the Columbia River Gorge. Lush forest to high country desert in Pasco Wa. I've driven this several times.

Both of these are more than a day trip though.

Have a great trip.

That sounds like a fun day! I'll shot you a PM if I make the drive over.

I'm a sucker for a nice bass and good cup of coffee! Not to mention a chance to meet another Roscoehead!

Funny Ray, I didn't know Gard was that ripped in the abs. Looks like his hero Reggie Bush!

Hey Jerry,

I was actually fortunate enough to play that bass in the shop before she shipped out. It took me and Greg (Rocket) a few guesses to figure that one out. I think Keith found a solid and stable piece of pine he wanted to test out and walla was the story.

Anyways I havnt played a variety of bodies but it had plenty of Roscoe goodness. Not exceptionally light (as I thought it may be) but a nice balance.
