What a beautiful top! The finish still looks wet. Those are some of the only pictures that I've seen that show the high quality of Keiths finish work!
Don't get offended Jimmy "Gard" Olsen!
We still like your pic's......
The pickup covers, ramp and finger board really look great in contrast to the top. |

I'm going to have them buff out the diamondwood to a gloss almost, it'll help to keep it clean, whereas the satin kinda picks up grime and holds it.
thanks for the comments folks, you guys should hear it! |

All I can say is that I just read through all six pages and was looking forward to the next post all the way through. This is one awesome bass. Pretty much all Roscoes are, but holy cow this one is something else!
I've been able to calmly wait for my time for my next Roscoe, but this thread is beginning to create some strong Roscoe gas. I was planning to order a SKB-3005, but maybe a Signature Century V will be in order.
Enjoy it Wolf. Enjoy it. |

I hope you are getting on okay with the Audere - just to let you know it took me a bit of time to get it set up but now it absolutely rocks

To be honest, I'd be happy with the Audere without the Z switch, as long as the high and low control did as much to the sound as the 2 mid controls did. They really have some throw!
I'm going to go for a mod I think pretty soon, bump it up from 10 to 15db on the ends. Also, I'm baffled by what my additional switch does. It is supposed to be series/parallel, but it's confusing because it does different things when the preamp is set differently. I wonder if its actually single coil/humbucking.
No matter, it sounds killer flat!!! |

Soooo, I was thinkin'........ you should just donate it to me.
I am trying to start an orphanage for Roscoes that look like yours.
You can be the first to have a wing named after you.
Then, Doc can send in his, and Mo can send his, and all of the new Roscoes will be TOGETHER..
Doesn't that sound like a great idea????
It sure does to me. Just let me know, and I will send out a donation form. Even be willing to do the paperwork for you, and pay for shipping.
Just trying to help. |

I think the 15db boost will be a great improvement to the Audere.....I have to personally agree that the Z mode switch just isn't for me. It certainly is a great preamp for what it offers though, which is an aweful lot.
I bet that bass of yours would've been just as incredible passive with two volumes and a tone. |

I am swopping mine for the unit with 15bd as well as I have found the 10bd not quite enough - the 4 band eq is great and offers some incredible tones and the audere is very neutral and clean sounding.
I believe the Roscoe tuned unit will make things easier - although I am not sure how that will work with Barts and Nords as they definitely have different frequency responses - watch this space.

Just got the bass back with the "new and improved" audere preamp. This one has the 5 additional db on the bass & treble. Definitely makes a big difference, and makes the controls a bit more proportionate in the effect they have. Its my understanding that this is the new stock audere so they should all be like this now, which is a good thing.
Also, I got the fingerboard, pu's and ramp buffed out and they look great. I'll try to get some new pics up sooner than later.
I did some recording (pre-mod) with the roscoe the other day. A buddy came over and wanted to try out his new interface, so I got some free recording time and laid down some improvised solo bass tracks with my echoplex looper. They don't give the "full band" context but its a good representation of the voice of the bass.
The tracks can be found here |
