My First Roscoe?

A while back I posted a thread asking if I should get a Roscoe bass or not, and the overwhelming answer was yes! However, finances didn't work in my favor at the time and I unfortunately had to let that dream go.

I have an upcoming move after I graduate with my masters and I will be looking for a job. I think I have decided that it would be best for me to consilidate a couple of basses that I have and pick up one REALLY good bass that I would like to have.

I am primarily a church player and I have never actually needed a back up, but I have a inexpensive 4 string that I could use if I had to.

There is a Roscoe in the classified's that I'm trying to close a deal on right now. Hopefully, I can close that deal and move these other two basses and start saving for a GREEN burst Roscoe.

IMO it makes more sense to have one great bass. You can always add another nice backup as finances allow. In all of the years that I've played a Roscoe (16) I've never needed a backup. Of course things do happen and I do keep 3 basses but they serve different purposes (fretted 6, fretted 5 & fretless 5).

You'll certainly not regret going with a Roscoe. I've owned and tried everything out there and there's just nothing better.
GAS drives a lot of players to sell (even Roscoe's) and try a lot of other basses. But once the thrill of GAS is gone, it really comes down to finding a great playing, great sounding and great looking bass. One that you really enjoy playing and can get your sound out of.

IMO, if you can't get your sound out of a Roscoe then you just haven't discovered what your sound is!

Is this quote up on the Roscoe website yet?!?

Danny and I have been spending waaaaay too much time lately thinking about marketing... a guy representing a brand could spend HOURS trying to come up with something this simple that says so much... and it wouldn't be half as good as Joe's comment!

Had been contemplating a Roscoe for awhile. Finally got one (#5731 from Dennis - bassWR) and couldn't be happier. Do it.

Definitely diggin' it. Your early description of the bass playing itself was nothing short of spot on. And, what a looker too! I've gotten more compliments than I can count about both the tone and looks of it.

It's a great contrast to my Sadowsky. And while I love the Sadowsky and it's a wonderful bass, the sonic territory I can cover with the Roscoe is astonishing. Just a really great bass that I can't say enough good about.

So, let us know how this deal works out - and YES, you need a Roscoe. And a Saints team that decides to show up and actually play some football this weekend...and next weekend...and for the rest of the damned season...

That's almost as good as what is inscribed at the bottom of the statue At Warmour College at the beginning of the movie Animal House
