Hello,

This is my Roscoe bass. I have had it since 1999 or 2000. Could someone tell me what the little white dots are under the finish? I was told it was due to excess moisture being present in the wood before it was sealed. Does this effect the value? Thanks.

Looks uncomfortable, but it's nothing some antibiotics won't take care of...

Sorry, I couldn't resist. That's unfortunate. Great looking top otherwise. Is just the finish turning opaque there or is the actual wood discolored, or can you tell? I'm sure Gard will be here soon to give a diagnosis and a proper treatment plan.

The finish seems to be turning opaque. It wasn't so noticeable years ago when I bought it, and it seems to have gotten about as bad as it will get, so at least it stopped.

Moisture sounds like a good guess at what might have caused the problem.
It would definitely affect the resale value to most players. Unforunately, the cost of correcting it would probably cost more $$$'s than it would add to the resale value.
It wouldn't affect the sound though!

Have your tried buffing it with Clearasil and rubbing compound?

I've never tried this stuff, but it appears as though it may help with the moisture in that finish:

Could be worth a shot

This stuffed is designed to use when the finish is still wet from spraying, it wouldn't do any good now. I would ask Gard about what can be done to fix the finish.

Can't say for sure what is causing that from a photo, but the only way to fix it is to refinish it, unfortunately.
