My two 5'ers are now complete!

Most of you have seen my (2) 5 string Roscoes with the upgraded Nordstrand pickups and wood covers however, I order some tuner buttons from Roger at THGknobs about 2 1/2months ago (who by the way made my knobs also and did a great job on both) and I just received my finishing touches today and oh boy do these tuners really set the basses off. I can't believe how much these tuners changed the look of the bass. Let me know what you guys think. Here are the stats:

LG3005: Exhibition Grade Spalted Myrtle Burl Top
(5563) Mohogany Body
Birdseye FB
Ivory Estate Nut
12pc Wedge Maple/Center Chechen laminates, wenge stringers with maple/cherry accents (even has a cherry laminate under the FB)
Bartonlini Pre and Nordstrand Fat stacks.
Custom birdseye maple knobs.
Custom Birdseye Maple Tuner Buttons.

SKB3005: Exhibition grade Spalted maple top
(5252) Exhibition grade Spanish Cedar body
African Tulip wood FB
Diamondwood Nut
Maple/purple heart neck with cherry accents
Aguilar OBP-3 and Nordstrands dual coils.
Custom THG wood knobs (shaft is african tulip wood cap is spalted maple)
Custom THG african tulip wood tuner buttons.

I'm a happy man! The first 2 pictures of the tuners are not as clear and detailed because my batteries went out in my digital camera and I had to take it with my cell phone

Sha,

Those Roscoes are tricked out man. I know you would never get rid of them, but if you do, I call dibs on the SKB unless there is already a list.

Sorry to say, but you'll have to take a number!

Hey no offense, but didn't you use to be a Roscoehead and a MTD Freak and now your just a MTD Freak. Might be getting it confused with someone else, but I'll take a number (1).

Thumbs up

That's a great pair of basses! How do you like the Nordie DC w/ Aggie OBP-3? I have the Bart p/u with the Aggie OBP-3 but have heard good reports about the Nordie DC's. Wondered what the difference in tone was like and if the switches were for series/parallel?

Its funny you would as that because I need the same answer from you..I'm considering changing out my bart pre to a aggie but I'm wondering how it will sound compared to the bart/bart setup I already have. Nevertheless to answer your questions, what you've heard, are very true about the aggie/nord combo. Very clean and articulant with a nice will rounded mid growl. And if you ask me way more bass than you'll ever need on the aggie! The switches are wire series/parallel. Now I guess I need to hear from you so that we can compare the two sounds.

In regard to swapping out a Bart preamp for an Aggie with the Bart pickups, I haven't heard the Bart/Bart setup in a Roscoe since I ordered mine with the OBP-3. I really do like the combination though. The Aggie is voiced somewhat aggressively which gives the mids incredible detail. The lows are very solid and defined and the highs are crisp and clear without too much sizzle. The sound is solid, focused, even, and smooth, with great presence but not warm or round. The mahogany body and wenge board probably make some contribution to the sound signature but the end result is an instrument which cuts through a busy mix like no other I've had without being harsh. Really sits well in the front of house mix - nice tone. I'm wondering if a series/parallel option would provide some useful additional tones or just leave well enough alone.
