Need Help ?

Working with Greg from "Rocket Music" on a new Roscoe.
He has a 5-string LG3005 that I'm really digging.
I also want a fretless 6er.
My question is as much as I dig the LG body shape.
I'm 6 4" tall, would a SKB body be better for me?
pros, and cons?

Actually, I'd guess the LG would work better for you than most, since you're tall, I'd imagine the only time an LG could be a problem is if you're too short.

Since it's got a shorter upper horn, the neck reach for the lower notes can be too far for some.

I'm 6'1" and have no trouble with my LG, my guitarist is 6'4" and seemed to get on fine with it too, whenever he's played it(but thats just a quick go, every now and then).

The SKB has a pretty similar reach, IMHO, but has a bigger body, though, which might be a bigger deal, you miy not be comfortable with a smaller body, maybe?

Hello Mojo-Man (cool name by the way).

I am sure others will chime in with far more knowledge than I , but in the meantime here goes:

I am 5'-11" tall and medium build (weigh about 175-178"ish"). I have a Roscoe Century Standard 5 string and I think the larger body is fine for me- bass really hangs well on a strap.

Also, I have owned a LG 3006 and currently own a SKB 3006. I think the SKB is great for studio or playing a gig. The slightly larger body is very comfortable and the extra mass in wood helps with tone, I believe. No real "cons", just personal taste. The SKB is the medium size and just "feels right" to me, especially when standing on a long gig.

Call Gard at the shop, he is very honest, .....well except when talking about his Saints!

Just messin big fella!

Pete

Mojo, the LG doesn't bother me, I'm 6'2" and a solid 250+ (I avoid scales, so I don't know HOW "+" it is these days! ), hangs nicely on a strap and balances just fine.

As a 6er it can seem a bit odd at first, and it doesn't balance perfectly, but it's still quite comfy and doesn't do the Thumb Bass Knee Dance (i.e. take your hands off the bass, get jabbed in the knee with a tuner! )

If you prefer the smaller body, GO FOR IT.

If you have ANY questions, hit me up via e-mail (info@roscoeguitars.com), PM, or telephone (336-274-8810) and I'll be glad to talk it over.

No way! You could have said 200 and I would have totally believed you, unless you somehow managed to pack 50+ lbs over Labor Day weekend....

Oh, and back on topic, I'm a fan of the SKB...for whatever that's worth. Feels awesome and looks even better. I have a second one under construction. Yay!!

Well, yeah- that one Smarted!

As I said then, I will say now- Saints were the better team then & were far better prepared. Sean Payton has studied a lot of Belichick.

New year, who knows. I am pulling for yer boys this Thursday, however!

Now- let's see this bass all done up and fancy-like. You Roscoe folks have been producing a lot of beauties lately.
