New guy... gassing HARD for an SKB3006... LEFTY!!!

Ok... new guy here.

I've been gassing hard for a lefty Roscoe 6'er.

HARD.

I've kind of already picked out my "Dream-scoe" , and it all started with this bass from Planetbass' website...

http://www.planetbass.com/slides/Ros...uckeyeBurl.htm

I think I have everything, and it is as follows:

• SKB Signature VI 6 string bass, 24 frets, 35" scale length
• LEFT-HANDED $175
• Enhanced Swamp Ash Body (Price?)
• 5-piece graphite reinforced Maple/Purpleheart/Maple
• Buckeye Burl Top: $600
• Pau-Ferro,Birdseye Maple, or standard Maple FB (Undecided)... the bass that is pictured has a blended ebony board of some kind, right? Yeah, it looks killer but if it's prone to problems like the fellers at Roscoe say it is, then I guess I'll pass.
• Standard 12th fret inlay
• Aguilar ODP-3 Pre
• Nordy or Bart P'ups (undecided... have Barts on almost all my basses already, so I might want something different)

Anything I'm missing?

Also... I live in North Dakota, so dealers around here don't exist. Who should I talk to about this? Can I order directly from Roscoe? What can I expect to pay as far as MSRP vs. Dealer Price is concerned?

And finally... what is the current turnaround time on an order?

I'm about |this| close to selling my Lefty USA Lakland 55/94 to help fund this purchase... I haven't been able to shake the GAS for weeks now, so I don't know any other way to cure my issues.

I HATE YOU ROSCOOOOOOE!!!!

You think you got it bad... try living in continental Europe and GASsing for a Roscoe.

There are several Roscoe dealers active on this forum. I'm sure they will help you out.
They will give you a price quote and will help you spec out a bass.

I never played a Lakland, but I'm sure a Roscoe is better.

Sound like a killer bass you have in mind.

Definitely sounds like a wicked bass...good luck with everything! I have to tell you, I'd recommend that you at least consider Greg @ Rocket Music. He's a wonderful fellow, a huge advocate of Roscoe, and has the knowledge and experience to help guide you on some of your undecided items.

Thanks for the shoutout, Jerry!

And just to avoid having every other Roscoe dealer out there throwing things at their monitor while cursing Rocket Music, here is the official list of Roscoe dealers - they're all standup cats, Roscoe doesn't fool around!

You have curry!?!

Or am I reading things wrong again?

Addison, Roscoe don't let just anyone sell their basses, so you have nothing to fear with any of them, but I have delt with Greg too, and VroomVroom is dead on in everything he says IMHO.

...

LOL

You guys are hee-larry-us.

I'm not even from ND, so flame away...

I grew up in NY and then lived in Oakland, CA for about 11 years... then lived in Chicago for 2... then ended up here.

Yeah, I know... whut duh heck?!?

It's all my wife's fault.

How the hell else could I guilt her into letting me buy all this gear?!?!

Anyway... you guys are awesome... and thanks for the help, Greg. Your numbers really got me thinking that I might be approaching this the wrong way.

I'll shoot you an email and give you an update as to what I'm thinking later today.

ND lingo?? I'm assuming you've seen the movie "Fargo"?? Well, if so, that's NOT how we talk.

All BS aside though, Greg was absolutely great to deal with on my custom Roscoe.

Hey! I believe everything I see on the TV or the Big Screen. Why would they lie?!?

I always crack up at Fargo 'cause that's kinda how my parents talk (they're both from Maine). Me? I'm like a TV news anchor - My Dad was Navy, so I grew up all over. Every two years, we'd move and my accent would change to wherever I lived. Eventually, though, it settled at basically no accent. My roughest transition was going from Scotland to Georgia (the US state, not the country). My first day at school, I had a thick Scottish accent and everyone else... well, didn't. I took some grief the first few weeks, for sure.

How's the honeymoon going, Ryan? Still lovin' it?

Still lovin' the hell out of it. I don't have gigs until next weekend, but I have a rehearsal with my classic rock/variety band tonight, and another rehearsal with my rock/pop/country variety band on Sunday, so I'll get to use it in a band setting a couple times this weekend, anyway.
