New Orleans?

Guys,

I'm in NOLA for a few days. Any good spots to eat or hear jazz (not dixieland) in or near the Quarter? We're on foot.

Thanks,
Flyman

Snug Harbor...check the paper, you will find a lot of good direction there. It's been FAR too long since I was really aware of the scene in the hometown...anyone else?

Sometimes there is good local jazz at the Maple Leaf uptown in the Garden District.

Back from NOLA. First of all, thanks for the Snug Harbor idea. It was indeed the stuff. We saw a fine quintet led by alto man Wes Anderson. They opened with "Invitation" and went on from there. That was on Saturday. There's a hotel on Bourbon Street that has a lounge called the "Jazz Playhouse" that has jazz on Friday & Sunday nights. Not quite at the level of Snug, but still pretty good. I'm not necessarily a fan of singers, but a woman named Germaine Bazzle was the feature on Sunday, and she could bring it. Bending notes, improvising melodies, & doing some pretty good scatting. She was very animated, and she had the room going.

Regards to all,
Bob
