It came from Glenn at Bass Specialties. Super guy to work with!
SKB-3005
Solid Myrtle body (dig the big knot)
Diamondwood fingerboard
Nord DC's
Bartolini 3-band preamp
Diamondwood nut
Looks like the serial number is #5538 (not sure, the third number is covered by the tuner, might be a "2")
Tossed on a set of DR BB's last night, most sexy. Will get some "new home" pics in the next day or two.
I.....am.....happy

...even though that is an "older" one, I remember it well...I really dig the solid myrtle fretlesses...fretlii....whatever...
...they sound GREAT!

From one 'fertile myrtle' brother to another....congratulations! |

That's gotta have a nice bright sound with the solid myrtle body and the Nordys.
Can you hear the forum chanting? SOUND CLIPS! SOUND CLIPS! SOUND CLIPS!...

It is a little more "woody" than you might imagine, new strings sprang it up quite a bit, but still not over brite.
As per your requests, I'll get something down for you to hear by the weekend (as long as you promise not to make fun of my fretless skills ).

I love it - quite different from a lot of fretless basses out there that to my ears sound a bit over-sweetened. Quote:

| I'm in no position to make fun of anyone else's skills, so I'll go for that deal if you in turn promise not to say something like "Hey Dave, ya ever try playing yer bass without the oven mitts on?" - which would be completely justified - when I post some sound files of my bass(es).

I'd also be very curious to hear the Nord's on a fretless. I would have thought it might be bit too bright for my taste but the Bart pre probably really darkens up the tone.
Congrats! |

Have you thought about installing a split coil option? It's been the most inexpensive AND welcome mod I've done on my Roscoe to date.
All the best,

I was worried it was going to be a little too bright/brittle (I know, I know, it is a Roscoe).
I find it very focused with a strong fundamental, a good edge, and still plenty organic.
Not over brite, not too wooly, not overly zingy, not too woody, ..... just right IMHO.
(how is that for a mouthful of bass adjectives).
