Absolutely Bob! The Roscoe forum is indeed a family forum!

Connected together by great basses!

Congrats, Joe! I'm a grand dad twice over. So I know how proud you must feel.

Way to go, Joe!

My pop's name is Grant. I like it - solid, strong, direct - just like a good bassist. Good choice.

It's never too soon to start grooming him for his role as the family's next bassist. Get him a ukulele and tune it to E-A-D-G and teach him to play it like a bass. Pump James Jamerson into his crib.

Congrats!

Cool! I like the name "Grant" too.
I'm actually on my way out the door to Toysrus to see if I can find a stuffed guitar/bass for Grant. The next step will be to see if Gard and Keith will do a package deal on a Roscoe fretless and a 1/8" scale infant bass.
I'm not sure how the low "B" would sound but Grant told me that he want's to start out on a 5. He said that the 4 string was for little girls!

LOL!

Let's hope that the boys of his generation don't grow up to be emasculated hand-wringing weenies like most of what I see in the current crop of what's being passed off as "boys."

I think starting him on a 5 is teaching him to be lazy from the get go. Give him a 4 string and make him work the fingerboard. When he turns 16, give him a drop tuner for the drop D tunes.

When he gets to be 25 give him the "B" string and when he is old and lazy like Gard give him the high "C" so he can just play it all in one position.

lol

At his current size, Grant could just about lay down and take a nap on a 6 string fingerboard!
