Early game:
Jets @ Colts - Jets D is tough. Colts O is pretty good. Jets O is strong on the ground but not built to play catchup if they get more than a score down. Colts D is good against the run, suspect against the pass.
This will be even, tough football, strength against strength, but in the end, the Colts O will start to pull away, and once they do it's over, no way the Jets can keep up.
Jets 13 Colts 24
Late game:
Vikings @ Saints - Everyone expects this to be a high scoring, last team with the ball wins kind of game. Just like they expected the Cards/Saints to be. Wrong.
Saints will be too much on offense for an extremely weak Vikings secondary, they will scheme to take Allen out of his game so Brees will have time to throw. The 4 wide out sets of the Saints will overwhelm an overmatched secondary unless the front 4 of the Vikes can limit Brees' time in the pocket - they won't, they'll have to blitz to try and get to him, and then he will pick them apart.
On the other side, the Vikes just don't have enough firepower in the passing game to overcome the Saints DB's, and GW will dial up pressure packages that will just totally confuse Brent FAR-VUH, make him rush throws and he will get hit & sacked. Once that happens, we get the wild Brent...and against Sharper, not a good situation.
Vikings 24 Saints 38

However, if it becomes (as I expect) a shootout game, do you REALLY want to put Sanchez up against Manning???

Then, for the SB, the Saints look like **** for the first half, spotting the Jets a 20+ point lead, only to have Brees come back in the 2nd half and humiliate the Jets D. To close it out, the Saints would win it in the last minute of play by intercepting a Sanchez pass & running it back 50 yards for the TD ....
This scenario would provide the maximum amount of distracting entertainment in the NY media, thereby allowing everyone in the greater NYC/NJ area to forget that the Giants might be on their way to being one of the biggest disasters in professional football in the 2010 season .... |

So ole Boudreaux dies. And we all know he aint lived a real good life. So when Boudreaux meets the Devil, the Devil tells him “Boy, do I have some fun in store for you”. So that mean ole Devil put Boudreaux in this box. He proceeded to explain that this box can be adjusted to make the inside of the box as hot or cold that he wants it to be.
Well the devil turned the heat up about half way, which is pretty hot considering they are already in hell, and left for an hour. After an hour, the devil came back and Boudreaux was in that box just a dancin’ away. The devil said “Boudreaux, you cant possible be that happy in there ???” The ole cajun said “Whooooeeeee, its just like a hot night on da bayou, bring it on you bad ole devil!!!”
So the devil turned the heat up all the way and left for another hour. He came back and, once again, Boudreaux was in there dancin’. The devil was astonished and Boudreaux said “whooooooeeeee, its just like a hot night in da quarter. Bring it on !!!”
So the devil switched tactics, and turned the control on that box to FREEEZZZZIINNNNGGGG. The kind of freezing that gives polar bears shrinkage, ya know? Well that ole devil left for another hour.
When he came back, that box had icicles hanging from the top and snow up to Boudreaux’s waist. The devil said “Aint no way you are happy and comfy in there now Boudreaux. Why are you dancing?”
Boudreaux looked back at the devil and said “ohhhhh no… this cold is not fun at all… but we are in hell, and its freezin’, so the SAINTS MUST HAVE WON THE SUPERBOWL !!!!”

I think you'll be pretty happy with the outcome of the early game on Sunday....

Maybe one day they'll really shock us and play like they have a reason to win. |

As for Sanchez versus Bullit, yeah, the Colts defensive backfield is suspect (which is why the Saints will beat them on 2/7/10! ), but you're still trying to get a rookie that can really have a bad day on occasion (say, New Orleans back in early October? ) to outplay the best QB in the NFL right now.
It'll be an entertaining game, and I firmly believe the Jets will keep it close, they may even find some way to actually upset the Colts, but if they win, it WILL be an UPSET.
Remember, that game in the regular season doesn't mean squat now...

He free's up the rest of the secondary to allow for unique schemes and/or blitzes/pass rushes that frustrate the best offenses out there.
Anyway, keep counting the Jets out of it... It's worked out well for them so far. |
