NFL Week 6

Whee...38-38, I'm mediocre!!!

...I gotta get better than THAT.

Here we go...

Miami @ Green Bay - two teams that are consistently under performing right now. Hard to pick, home field will help GB - but Rodgers might be out with a concussion. If Rodgers plays, it is GB's game, if not tough to call. Conditional pick! If Rodgers plays - Miami 20 GB 31; if Rodgers doesn't play Miami 20 GB 17

Cleveland @ Pittsburgh - Mangini has no sympathy for rookies, does he? This could get ugly, and quickly. Cleveland Steamers 13 Pittsburgh 27

Detroit @ NY Giants - Another "which Eli?" game? I don't think so. The Giants D will stifle the Lions, it will potentially be close, but in the end that will decide things if "bad" Eli shows up. If "good" Eli shows up, all bets are off.... Detroit 24 Giants 27

Seattle @ Chicago - When will the Bears play an actual good football team when it's actually playing good football? Not this weekend. Seattle 13 Chicago 27

Atlanta @ Philadelphia - Will s(V)ick play? Will it matter? Kolb upped his game against a very solid, if winless 49ers D. Atlanta's D is not that good. Upset special, whoever is at QB in Philly. Foulclowns 20 Philly 27

Kansas City @ Houston - KC is for real. Houston, not so much, apparently. Houston goes 0-3 at home. Ouch. KC 24 Houston 20

Baltimore @ New England - Should be a really entertaining game, really looking forward to it! Tight one, home field gives the edge in the end this time, and the Patsies get a bit of payback. Baltimore 24 New England 27

San Diego @ St. Louis - Ugh. Sandy Eggo wins one they SHOULD here, takes a bit of frustration out on a hapless Ewes squad. SD 31 StL 17

NY Jets @ Denver - Jests are due for a bit of "reality", Denver is due to get a W they don't really deserve. Happens today. Jests 20 Denver 23

Oakland @ San Francisco - Oakland played over their heads against SD. SF is playing good football and just not connecting all of the dots. Oakland crosses the Bay Bridge with stars in their eyes; they go back across with stars spinning around their heads. Oakland 13 SF 27

Dallas @ Minnesota - Tie? Please??? How do you pick one to win here? Really? Both teams are playing below expected performance; Brent FAR-VUH is throwing more INT's than TD's (surprise); the entire Dallas team just looks out of sync. Seriously, tie? Please??? Oh...OK....bleah....only because they're IN MN. Dallas 13 Minnesota 17

SNF: Indianapolis @ Washington - Indy is looking a bit off, Washington is continuing to play above their heads. Tough game to call, but in the end Manning versus McNabb is the difference Indy 27 Washington 20

MNF: Tennessee @ Jacksonville - Depends on which Tennessee decides to show up. Should be a good game (which of course means it will be a blow out one way or the other, right? ). I think Tennessee is finding their feet here the past few weeks, and Jax is good, but not good enough to be Tennessee when they're "on", home or not. Tennessee 24 Jax 17

My Game: New Orleans @ Tampa Bay - Man, my boys have STUNK UP THE FIELD so far this season on offense. Not sure what is up, if it's something physical or psychological, but Brees is just not "Brees-like" so far this year.

The defense is actually playing well, they kept the Cards from scoring an actual offensive TD last week, and kept them under 200 total yards. If the ball hadn't just flat bounced the Card's way (Cards fumbled 4 times, recovered all 4 of them), this game ends differently. That is not an excuse - you MAKE that kind of stuff work your way, and the Cards did, so they get the W. But that won't happen every game...

Eventually, they will get their act together. Starting this week, against the Yucs, they do just that. Tampa has no business even having a winning record right now, so they go to .500 this coming weekend, and in a spectacular fashion, as the Saints actually start playing SAINTS offensive football.

New Orleans 31 Tampa 17

Falcons are averaging giving up 14 points per game and lead the NFL with 10 interceptions (and also have the best W/L record in the NFL). Falcon's net points 43; Saints -3.

Nice.

Who cares? I can remember when my Saints had all kinds of statistical "wins" in seasons that they stunk up the field in the W-L column.

Your Falcons have a ONE GAME LEAD over the "hapless" Saints, and after this weekend I'm bettin' it's really just the tie-breaker, after the Falcons lose to the Eagles, and the Saints beat the Bucs.

The Falcons got LUCKY against the Saints, and the Saints are playing awful offense right now.

Again, see me at the end of the season, and one of us will eat crow. I got no doubts that YOU will be the crow eater.

^ You got it Ray. I honestly think Dallas will win today b/c I believe they have to. Minnesota is a joke of a franchise lately and Dallas has been in these "must win" situations before. I don't think Romo is that good, honestly, but the team has a lot of really strong players that should be winning.

Hey, how does Gard feel now that Julius Jones is now a Saint?

There are some really interesting match ups this week, I am nervous about the Pats v. Ravens; Baltimore looks like they have it figured out and now Moss is gone and Deion Branch has returned things will be fun to watch.

Well Pete, You and I were wrong .

Cowboys are an undiciplined bunch of talented guys. We need a stronger coach, which I don't see getting until at least next year. And then that's only after Dallas' fans raise enough cain and stop giving Jerry Jones their money.

Yup! I watched this morning but I had forgotten about it.

I'm laughing, but I'm still mad at my guys for stinkin' it up.

I was confused about some of the plays and touchdowns being called as fouls, but I'm still only learning about the game.

Must dig into the NFL wiki pages during the week.

I can't believe the Patriots actually won that game. There were a few times that it looked like they were trying their best to lose it.
But the offence hung in there, the defence got WAY better in the second half and Deione Branch made an excellent contribution. Not to mention that they had their share of good luck when it counted.
This team's starting to look to me like they have what it takes to do a lot this year. Ya'all best watch out... )-(

Lotsa new rules every year. It's hard for me to keep up with all of em too. I found it strange that Dallas got called for "excessive celebration" for Miles Austin hopping Roy Williams BUT half the Vikings were dancing in the end zone after one of their scores and no call.

I think there were a few "excessive penalties" called against Dallas without merit.

I guess Ref wantsBrett "Wanna see my wee wee" Farve do well due to the impending investigation.

That's the one that really got me, excessive celebration, coming from soccer, where they go wild after a score, it seemed odd.

It is odd and a STOOPID RULE!. It can't be for anything more than controlling/changing field position, which is crucial in American Football.

The Cowboys stunk again, BUT I think we got hosed on some bad calls too.

Ahhhhh, I see, I think.

Honestly, with my very basic knowledge of the game, I wasn't sure, but I did think you guys had a few bad calls against you.

It's just my opinion, but I think penalties should be limited to hindrance of an opponents performance and stuff like cheap shots.

Dancing after you score doesn't hurt the other teams chances of winning.

It's just dumb........
