| | Well, Ahoy Paloi | | Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: Cape Cod, MA | | | NFL Week 6 Results thus far... Hey Fellas,
Interesting day yesterday in the NFL, eh? I was happy to see the Patriots beat Dallas (barely). Ray, are we still friends, buddy????
If I were you Ray, I would be pi$sed about the lame play calling Dallas made in the last 2 minutes. Three straight running plays then they punt the ball back to Brady with 2 minutes left? I think Garrett was afraid Romo would turn the ball over if they tried to throw for a fist down. Gotta say, a great deal of talent on that team, but the ownership and coaching leave a lot to be desired.
Gard, feel for you too. Seeing Payton get his leg broken / torn ACL and continue to coach from the booth in a losing effort- wow. The guy is tough for sure.
Also the Detroit / SF ending was fun to watch, a little fired up, Jim?
Now, if the Jets lose tonight I will be at peace. |

...my game...guh...team looked flat, no "fire", wonder if the injury to Payton had an effect, or if it was just a combination of them being a bit tired from the 3 game road trip combined with the Yucs being pretty ticked off after they got spanked the week before. Watching the game, I put the loss squarely on the Saints, they just did not play up to their standards - for whatever reason.
I will, however, point out that if the ball touches the ground before the receiver has control of it, it IS incomplete. Even if the ref reviewing it is either a) blinder than a bat, or b) on the take (how much extra was in HIS pay envelope? ). Oh, and on Brees' 2nd INT, hell man, if I knew that you could MUG the receiver like that, then catch the ball after shoving him out of bounds before the ball arrives, and that wasn't pass interference, I'd get a job as an NFL DB! However, the missed calls did not cost the Saints the game - the SAINTS lost the game by themselves. You play well enough, you can beat missed/bad/incredibly obviously wrong calls. We'll get it back in the rematch, with interest - Yucs won't win the NFC-S.

| Agreed, they just didn't look "right", but the wind appeared to go out of the sails completely soon after that.
Frustrating to watch them play so badly and STILL almost pull out a win....sigh...

I expected a win, but a bare one after Cutler took about 20 sacks....

It was frustrating, but keep in mind that - despite my distain of the team - the front 7 in Dallas is pretty stout, and is VERY good at putting pressure on the QB. Quote: |

| It was so frustrating to see a team with so much obvious talent just not seeming to care enough to do anything with it...if they'd just put an effort forth, they'd have won. If they'd played FOOTBALL the way they are really capable of, they'd have BURIED the Bucs...instead they sleep walked through a really bad loss....sigh...hopefully, this will get them angry now.
Sean Payton had the surgery to repair his knee this morning, from all reports, it went very well, but he will be off it completely for at least 8 weeks, and his full recovery is not expected for at least 6 months. What a weird thing that was...

It's weird, the team preform, or Romo preforms, never both at the same time... Quote:

Completely odd though, didn't look bad at all, just enough to put him off balance.

Their defensive front 7 is actually fairly strong, and their secondary isn't awful...so it's the offense that is...well....offensive...
Gotta fix it from the top, and until JJ stops meddling and inserting himself into everything, they will never make it over that last hurdle. Instead of a team that does whatever it can to win, they're a team that does whatever JJ wants. Quote: |

| Don't make me feel any better - they should ALWAYS want to play to their best ability. They don't, frustrating to say the least. Quote:

| I was watching at a local pub/sports bar that I frequent, very loud and the sound was off, so I had no idea until my sister texted me with the news. I thought he'd taken a bit of a bump and they had him sitting just because he'd sprained or strained something. When I heard the extent of the injury, I was kind of stunned - it really didn't look that bad!

I assumed why they were checking him over so much was some standard procedure.
Then they were talking about a Saint with a broken leg, and I couldn't figure out for ages who it was, as there was no serious tackles or bumps.

Damn, Aaron Rogers is the Man. I can't imagine what went through his mind all those years on the bench watching Farve suck week after week. Kudos for Rogers keeping it classy on that point and not clearing the air after last year's SB win. I respect the kid a lot and the team ain't too shabby. The best team in the NFC, if not the NFL is in Green Bay in my estimation. |

Don't generally like Greenbay fans though.

They are awful and I don't blame QB Moore. Even my wife pointed out that the Dolphin players looked smaller in size than the Jets; this was obvious on defense. They had zero pass rush and made Sanchez look "decent". And...., when is Revis going to get flagged for def. pass interference??? He commits the penalty on almost every play- watch him grab the receiver's shirt, arm, etc... Jets fans may be happy about the win, but they still looked terrible, especially in the first 3 quarters. We'll see how they do against San Diego next week- a much better opponent. |

| I'm going to disagree with this. I think what we saw was a Pats "D" that is starting to come around. They've been my biggest concern all season, and they finally started to show some life this week. The Cowboys played them tough, and to my eyes, it seems like the D is improving. Either way, you're right - Hoodie needs to keep the heat on.

Too well for my taste, frankly (of course, my taste would be for the Cowboys to have zero points, yards, first downs, tackles, etc, ect, ect... ). The Pats D is definitely improving, which is a good thing for them, and not so good for the rest of the AFC East. Now, can we get someone to do the same thing in NOLA - PLEASE?!?!

SportsTalk radio down here is "all in" on the "Suck for Luck" campaign. They're rippin' the coach and ownership and the players - especially Brandon Marshall (who has dropped a handful of TD passes so far this year). Most severe is the rip that the Dolphins will be 0-15 and win the last game to lose out on the opportunity to get the first draft choice - i.e. they'll screw that up too. "Suck for Luck" may gain them a very good QB, but it won't erase the dismal abilities of coaching/management.
Been down here 20 years but I'm still a Lions fan. Tough to watch that loss to the 49'ers, but it confirmed what I thought - the O-Line is porous and the D-Line is not what it should be. 10-6 would be a realistic ending. I'm not sure it would get them to the playoffs.
