I know it's no big deal but I was a bit surprised, given the popularity and high quality of a Roscoe bass, that it didn't make BP magazines 20th anniversary "Boutique Basses" section.
They mention several lesser know and respected makers but no mention of Roscoe!
Of course they failed to mention several key amp's and speaker cabinets in those sections too!
For a magazine committed solely to bass, they sure miss the mark quite freqently!
........oh well, at least we have the forums of TB to get the real news straight from the guys in the trenches! |

This forum will provide better info and much less nonsense than BP IMO. As a new bass player, I've benefited greatly from all the experienced knowledge and advice freely provided by seasoned bass veterans on this page.
Thanks again to all,

We are presently about to send in a couple of instruments (actually two Century Standards, which are the focus, and one Century Signature for comparison) for review, so the next time they have an anniversary issue, hopefully we'll be included.

Most of BP's readers are only now shaving for the first time and working on their learner's permits to drive. There are a few older guys that read it, but if you are familiar with boutique basses....or can afford to shop for one....you're going to know about Roscoes!
Gard, I don't know if you have seen Tom Bowlus' new magazine, Bass Gear Mag, but it is soley devoted to GEAR! No useless artists interviews from bassists that can't even tune their instruments. That publication will actually be right down your target demo's alley.

I still have my subscription to BP but I've long thought they should change their name from "BASS PLAYER" to ..................................." BASS PAYER".
.........if you don't pay 'em for a Bass Player AD, don't expect to be noticed.....
Ok, Ok........I suppose they are better in that area now than they use to be! |

I stopped reading BP a long time ago but can't put down my first issue of Bass Gear Mag. Me, being a gear whore, love their coverage and technical reviews of products. Awesome mag that everyone should check out and definitely put in a paid subscription to so that the magazine can stay afloat for many years to come!! (I don't get any kickbacks from them, BTW).

JK, Gard! I know it's 'in the works.' | ...pffft, like we'd let YOU guys review our stuff...
...yeah, actually, once we get the BP ones done, you're next in line. It's a matter of who asked us for review basses first, and getting space in the schedule to actually build them!
Oh, and here's a concept: Come pick the review bass up, we'll get you an interview with Keith and a full-on shop/factory tour for the mag...

...either way, we are in the process of getting instrument/s to BP for a full review, hopefully by the end of this month we will be shipping.

Ed is well respected in the bass world and since he is not an endorser to Roscoe, he can give his true opinions. You can check it out here. http://www.roscoeguitars.com/reviews.htm |

But yeah, I was just responding to the post that BP had never reviewed a Roscoe - which isn't exactly true as they did one in 1997!

...he does now own a custom Century Standard however...and is considered an "endorser"...
