Can anyone tell me the part numbers of the Bart replacements and a good place to get them. The Bartolini website is just to confusing for me. I'm also looking for a good tech in the Chicago area to do the work, I've had some bad experiences that I don't want to relive.
Thx, Will

Will,
The pots used are fairly high quality and may just a need a good cleaning. You may have already tried cleaning but just in case you haven't, you can purchase some tuner cleaner from any Radio Shack and a coule squirts into the pot usually corrects most issues. After you spray, just work the pot shaft back and forth (full rotations) a few times. Repeat that every few days and the problem never comes back.
I only say this because pots (especially high quality pots) rarely just go bad.
Hope that this helps. |

...DO NOT USE TUNER CLEANER!!!
Tuner cleaner has oil in it, oil will attract and collect all kinds of crud, and eventually will not only cause more noise, but will probably cause the pot to fail completely.
Instead get a product called Caig's De-Oxit, which is usually found at RS right near the tuner cleaner. It will remove any oxidation/corrosion on the wiper or blade, and get rid of any oxidation/corrosion related noise, and do so without any oil to worry about. If that doesn't work, then you need new pots.
Again, avoid tuner cleaner!

I did a search and it did confirm some concern on using WD 40 but most folks did still recommend tuner cleaner. One google hit did mention another product by Craig though. Craig FaderLube for pots and faders.
Here’s a link for it: http://www.midi-classics.com/a/a13827.htm |
