Nordy's or Bart CB's on LG 3005

I've decided to try some different pickups on my LG 3005 to open up the top end. As i posted before, i love the warmth, fatness, and low mid response but the top end sounds very compressed to my ears. I'm thinking about the Nordstrand Big Splits and the Bart CB's. What can expect to change tonally with each? Which would sound brighter? Also interested in the Big singles but i don't want to deal with much hum. What do you guys think?

Current specs:

Body - Spanish Cedar

Top - Quilt maple

Neck - purple heart

Fret board - ebony

preamp - aggie OBP-3

pups - currently standard barts

My current SKB has the CB's and I really dig em. Ive never been real good with tone descriptions but these def. have a different tonal character than the standard Roscoe Barts,,, I guess I would call it more open and less mid happy.. I actually bump the low mids a touch... lots of growl however...My only question would be that things may get really aggressive real quick matched with the Aggie pre ime..is that where you want to go.

No experience with Nordstrand soapbars but from what Im told their DC's are very similar to the Bart CB's...

Yea that's exactly what i'm looking for. Since i can cut as well as boost with the aggie i'm guessing the aggressive nature can still be smoothed out if needed?

I have the Bart CB + Aggie combo in an LG3005. I does get aggressive quickly, but it has a great slap tone. I don't think you will be disappointed with this pairing of preamp and pickups.

I've had both and for the $$$'s, I'd go with the Bart CB's. I was very surprised how much more open that they sound (verses the Roscoe Bart's) and as others have mentioned, the slap tone is much better.
The CB's are fairly close in tone to the Nord DC's and both have plenty of high end. I actually run the treble flat on my Roscoe with the CB's (with a pick) and just a slight boost(finger style). On my previous Roscoe's with the Roscoe Barts I would sometimes max out my treble boost finger style.

I have the CBs in my LG 3005, and I like the sound a lot. I posted a short video in the "show your Roscoe on youtube" thread, if you find that you can hear what they sound like. I alos have a set of the big splits that I want to try, when I get around to installing them I'll post a comparison clip.

Well i went to my bass tech's store yesterday and he just happened to have some used nordy DC pup's recently brought in. He was cool enough to put them on my bass so i could check them out. Then he didn't feel like taking them out again so he's going to let me keep them in for a little over a week. I'll have a chance to listen more and gig with them. So far i think they are more open than the standard Bart's, not sure how i like them yet though.

Does anyone have any sound clips of the Big Singles or Splits on an LG, or any other roscoe for comparison? It's great that the DC's just kinda "fell" into my lap being that I'm overseas right now and it's rare to see any nordy's. Just hoping to hear the single coils before i decide to just keep these because they happened to be here, or to have the singles shipped all the way over here without trying them first. Wondering if the bass will retain the "modern hi-fi" sound and if there would be much change in the deep lows and sweet low mids. And would there be an increase in high mid presence as well as highs?

Thanks in advance for any sound clips as most I've found on search don't work anymore.

I have big splits installed in one of my basses, but not a Roscoe. The low-mid emphasis present in the Roscoe Barts is definitely shifted higher with these pickups.

These will move you away from the modern hi-fi sound toward a more grindy/edgy sound.
