O/T: Herbie Hancock - The Imagine Project

Hi, fellow 'heads..

Kind of off-topic, but I hope you won't mind the intrusion. I've been listening to Herbie Hancock's latest album, and...well, it's actually beyond words. Truly a milestone album...every song is magnificent and the entire album is enjoyable on any level...background music, getting your groove on, and of course intense study.

There's something for everyone on this album, and as you can guess, the bass playing is nothing short of spectacular. Tal Wilkenfeld is on two cuts, and they may just bring tears to your eyes. Genuinely some of the most beautiful and intense playing I've ever heard. Oteil and Marcus are on a cut each, and they'll knock off your socks.

So, I just wanted to share with my Roscoe brothers and sisters - I don't think I've been as completely knocked out like this since first hearing Aquarium Rescue Unit's "In a Perfect World" album back in the early 90's.

Oteil is bad ass.
His work with the Allman Bro. is not to shabby either.

Herbie's Imagine Tour is coming to Seattle in August - does anybody know who's doing the tour with him?

Ordered! I grabbed Stanley's latest, too, while I was at it.

Thanks for the tip, Jerry!

Kind of a long story- Tal Wilkenfeld did the first two legs. (US - Europe) I saw opening night at the Rochester Int. Jazz Fest. Tal recently suffered an injury which forced her to leave the tour. I saw the HH show in Buffalo on Fri night, and James Genus was filling in. He will be doing the next few shows, and then Marcus Miller is in for one show. The rest of the tour, including the stop in Seattle, will be covered by Pino Palladino.
FYI, James Genus just tore it up the other night!!!
