Exclamation The Official 2012 Roscoe Shop Tour/GTG/Jimmy Haslip Clinic Is ON!!!

Yes, you read that right.

Save the date Roscoeheads, make your travel plans now...

JIMMY HASLIP will be at the shop on Saturday June 16, 2012!!!!

We will be doing a full tour, then going to an as yet to be determined location (depends on projected turnout) to have a hang, check out everyone's basses and a few amps (and yes, EVERYTHING is welcome, not just Roscoes! ), then a clinic/masterclass from the man himself. There may also be opportunity to arrange for private lessons, although that is still TBD.

Who's coming out?

(Oh, and for the western VA contingent, check out the Rocket Music forum for info on Jimmy doing a clinic and private lessons there on Friday June 15, 2012!!! ).

Well, Mrs. Ryan told me we should go, so I guess now it's down to booking flights, motel rooms, and whatever else we need to do.

Won't be able to bring my basses, unless I ship em down there beforehand.

FYI - Jimmy has offered to make himself available for one-on-one private lessons on Friday the 15th @ our store BEFORE the clinic in Blacksburg. He prefers doing 2-hours lessons, and $175 is his going rate for that. Contact me directly if there are any takers on that!

I think our clinic will run roughly 6:30-8 PM on Friday night, so the lessons would have to take place in the afternoon. More details will be posted in in my forum in the coming days.

For folks from more than a reasonable car drive away wanting to come and bring along their favorite bass/es:

I'm working on a few ideas to smooth transport, but the basic concept will be - ship 'em to the shop with a return label in the case. We'll receive them, inspect them to be sure they're OK, then repack and relabel them for return shipping.

I will request that you limit this to no more than 2 basses each, and remember we will not print return labels, they need to be already printed and in the case.

Also, anyone that has any questions about hotels, etcetera, here in Greensboro, please feel free to either PM or e-mail me at the shop, and I will be very happy to help in any way possible.

If we can get a definite commitment from enough people, there may be the possibility of arranging a group rate at the Marriott downtown, which is actually in line of sight from the shop...(if not, I'd still recommend that as a starting point - nice place, and very convenient to the shop! )

Really stoked about this!

I'm sure that we will be trying to work out a similar situation at the Greensboro event, maybe the following day, if Jimmy wishes. I am not planning on trying to do it the day of the event, as there will be too much going on and I'm sure Jimmy will want to be a part of it. Anyone interested in a private lesson, let me know, and I will see about arrangements.

RUH-RHO!

Uh...should I be scared?

Mrs. Ryan does know she can't bring a gun on the plane, right????

...as for the basses, see above, I'm certain we can work things out!

Dang, that's an expensive lesson, but then again, with the source it's probably a bargain too.

Well, in comparison, in 1996-99, when I studied with Dave LaRue, I was paying $75/hr for lessons, so it's actually pretty reasonable.

Yeah, I mean you get the guy's undivided attention for 2 hours?!? That's awesome! And he probably likes to do 2 hours because he actually wants to get to know you and your playing a bit so he can dial in some good things for you to work on.
