Lesson = $175

Gas = $30
Hanging with forum friends = priceless

Trip total = $1,635 ($4,635 with bass purchase)

Maybe possible without the bass purchase, but I don't know how I'd be around all that Roscoeness without having one shipped home.
...hmm...buy a bass...5 string? Go standard, $2200 instead of $3000....get a "fancy" one, $2500...

See, all better now!!!

I know. I don't really need a 6 string, but every time I see/hear Jimmy I go through a "I should really get good on a 6 string" phase. Extended range for solo's on the high end, extended range for groove on the low end. If I go extended range again it seems like I should go big or stay home. Greg has a nice Century Standard Plus 6 right now.

Honestly, the Standards are easily the equal of the upper lever ones, in playability and tone. The Plus models have 80-90% of the look too. Certified bargain in the boutique world.

Or, you could go there, play the bass for the lesson, and if you like it, put a deposit down on it and have a couple months to pay it off.........It would be torture waiting those couple months to get it, but would be a lot easier on the wallet all at once!

Yep. If I were going to get into Roscoe again, and the opportunity existed to actually go to a retail store like Rocket AND the actual Roscoe shop, might be smart to wait and play as many as I could and see what I liked best. I could pay a deposit but really, there wouldn't be much use in delaying as it would all come from the same place anyway. Just not sure if that place can take a hit like that.

After playing basses by most of the "big names" over the last couple years, I think it's safe to say that the Roscoe I had had the best neck and B string of all of them. I also like the looks so it's pretty much a no brainer that if I went back to spending more than $600 on a bass (I do really like my Geddy Lee jazz with the cool custom painted pick guard) it would be a Roscoe.

The Lakland 4401 Deluxe, right? That was a nice bass.

I have been playing Roscoes exclusively for about 3 years now.
