| | | | It is Official, I dig a Roscoe! Just got this baby, Roscoe LG 3005 original owner
Steve (TheButler) dealt with me and we came to a good price. The top is way cooler than the photos. A true piece of nature's finest art! He had a pro set up before it was shipped and it plays like a dream. String spacing is a bit close for me and the neck is thicker than I generally like, but the tone, feel and overall playability are just outstanding!
The best part is the evenness of tone between the E and B strings. They sound like the same string! Wow! Simply amazing!!
One truly excellent bass.
Now, about my next Roscoe purchase......

Is that a Wilkinson bridge? I've never seen a Wilkinson on a Roscoe before...

| | | | Many thanks to all!
Just got off the phone with Gard. Wow, not only a great bass, but a whole family of good people. I am humbled.
Yes, the Wilkinson has it's own sound with a solid mid-range. A Hipshot will bring out more fundamentals, but I'm gonna play this baby for a while before (if) I change it.
Now, off to rock!

Congrats on the first Roscoe - I'm with you on the E & B string crispness. That was my biggest reaction when I played my first Roscoe. It was like where has this B string been all my life? |

Nothing wrong with the Wilkinson bridge. If the sharper edges don't bother you I'd leave it on. |

| | | | Ok, gigged last night with the Roscoe. I'll gig Friday night with it too. Might just gig all the dang time with it, ya know? Very present, very dynamic, very nice.
My address??
Even if I did give out my address, you can't get there from here. Needless to say, I live directly over the center of the Earth, just like everybody else! I suppose that's why I have always felt so common, so ordinary...until I got my Roscoe. (puke if ya gotta)

Based on that last paragraph, I'd say that you're fully qualified to be a Roscoehead!
Don't give you're address to anyone on this forum (especially Youngs or Databass) until you really get to know them! |

| | | | The weekend is over. Got my sweat all over this Roscoe. Played every style imaginable and this baby just got better and better. One caveat; a solid funk sound, specifically a nice sharp upper snap with a bit of mid drop out, is a bit elusive with this bass. I suspect it is the pickups, as I have had this issue with other Bart pups. Some Bart styles have such a rich low mid and mid mid-range that I suppose it is hard to EQ out.
I do not play much funk professionally so this is no big deal. But, ya know, in the middle of an appropriate tune, a quick slappity-whappity (and you may quote me on that...that is if Carol Kaye has not taken credit for it yet) is kinda nice and reminds people that bass players can occasionally play somewhat more than root/5.
Regardless, I am digging a Roscoe, celebrating anything I want, I can be just who I wanna be, so all I need is love (...and gosh darn it, people like me!)....something like that!
