I voted for natural w/ maple, only 'cause there wasn't an orange option.

right on. that's why i started the poll. the century standard only comes in 4 different finishes with either maple or rosewood neck (if you're going fretted).

Gard explained the reason for it, and it all makes perfect sense. I'm just curious to know what other bass players, especially guys who are into Roscoe basses, think.

I voted natural/maple as well. Good luck with your purchase - I'm anxious to see what you get, and to hear your thoughts on the bass.

I played a tobacco Century Standard 5 at The Perfect Bass today. I was very impressed, I own a Century Signature 5, I'm not ready to trade it in for a standard but at around $2200 the standard is a great deal! I really liked the lighter weight but I'm not a fan of the tobacco finish. I voted for red with rosewood.

Even though I voted Onyx/Maple, Ed Friedland's custom transparent green Century Standard is the nicest one I've seen so far.

yes, i have also seen Ed's and liked it quite a bit. too bad roscoe doesn't offer it as one of the choices right now.

i bought the onyx/maple one that they had at my local roscoe dealer. and let me just say, i have a new favorite bass.

i'll post pics and a review tomorrow, probably.

Ohhh.. So you're the lucky owner of that one. Dude, I didn't even get a chance to play it!

well maybe if you're really nice to me... ha ha.

yeah, i played it last tuesday, then again on friday. didn't quite pull the trigger and buy it on friday, but decided to buy it on my way home from the store that night. picked up first thing saturday.

i'm usually really wishy washy and can't make that kind of decision that quickly (i've lost alot of basses due to "you snooze you lose" - me being the snoozing loser). but i wasn't about to let this one get away from me.

Well, I guess we need to find a way to re-do this....because we don't have my favorite options up there:

FRETLESS!!!

I like the natural/fretless combo best, for the fretted, I'd vote for black/maple or natural/rosewood (as everyone is probably aware of, I like CONTRAST between the fingerboard and body... )....

sorry Gard,

I didn't do the fretless in the poll because there's only one fretless neck option. i was trying to get everyone's opinion about the different fretted boards because there's a choice!
