After some head scratching and soul searching...not to mention hours of doodling around with my personal bass that has one installed, we have decided to add something to the option list:
Audere Preamps!!!
Our "version" will be slightly different from the 3ZB Configurable, but based on it.
1) Preset high & low Z modes (the switch will be there, just no pots on the preamp itself for adjusting the amount of boost)
2) Greater db cut and boost on highs and lows
Retail price will be $200
Adding something for us equates to needing to subtract something on the list - we can't justify having 2341346 different preamp options for about 2352457 reasons...so...
...we're saying "goodbye" to the Demeter preamp.
It wasn't an easy decision, but once we looked at the actual numbers, it was the best one - we sold far fewer of the Demeter preamps than any of the others we offer.
This is effective immedately, we are actually calling dealers and customers to let them know of the change, and allow them to spec a different preamp.
Watch this space for the ETA on the first "official" Audere equipped Roscoes....I can tell you that the first pair of these will be going to TBer cuebill, who is getting a pair of VERY tricked out SKB 3005's soon!

That was my favorite option as far as pre's that you offered. I look forward to hearing of of your basses with the specially spec'd Audere's though. |

Didn't see that one coming! I'll refrain from commenting too much until I actually hear an Audere pre. Obviously you guys have compared the two pre's and made your decision based on what you believe the players want.
I know that I sure like the sound of the Demeter pre in my 3005....Does the Audere pre give you the same open sound with the nice glassy highs? |

I think that Roscoe would've been better off getting rid of the OBP-1 and OBP-3 pre's. |

I'm assuming that the Bart and Aggie have their own sound. Is the Audere similar to the Demeter? If so how different, and how do they differ in sound?
Roscoe basses with Demeter preamps October 2004- November 2006. RIP |

| I would agree with you in regards to the stock Audere, but if David bumps the boost on the treble end to 15db instead of the stock 10db, I think it will greatly improve the glassiness factor.
For me the frequency point is great, it just needs more throw to it, (same with the bass). I think Gard and David are putting together a very user-friendly, and more versatile preamp. I'll be very interested to hear the result, and I'll probably be switching mine out for one of these bad boys pretty soon.
I love the Audere, but I find the stock treble and bass controls to be pretty worthless. Luckily the platform sounds great (and those mid controls are sick!!), and with the tweaking they're doing, it should be a great replacement for the Demeter. |

Apparently the new version treble and bass controls will have +/-15dB range instead of +/-10dB, and he said it should be the standard setting after a while.
Just FYI, I think David will provide formal infos later.
Gard, any plan for old Roscoe users to change their preamps to newer ones?
And what the controls will the Audere/Roscoe preamp will have? 3-band with a mid switch? 4-band? Passive-like treble roll-off? Active/Passive switch?

The change in spec on the treble & bass controls from +\- 10dB to +\- 15dB makes a noticeable difference, I believe the location of the frequencies is actually better on the Audere, and when you switch to the high Z mode, it REALLY sparkles!
lpjiang, I would definitely take advantage of David's offer of the "newer" version, it is much improved, in my opinion.
In answer to the features question:
4-band
two stack controls - high mid/low mid; treble/bass
no active/passive option
no passive tone (obviously )
Z-mode switch
battery light on control panel cover on back
As to "retrofits", once we actually get things right, we will do them, just as we did previously. However, until we have everything in place, we cannot do this, nor can I give pricing for the work.

Good choice - I am really happy with mine and now find the Bart system a bit muted and woofy (is that a word??). The Audere lets the tone of the bass through - eg uncloured and lots of upper end articulation without nasty nasle overtones and awesome bootom end without boomyness. I actually find that 10db cut/boost is about right for me as I can just put them on full for a nice snappy slap tone without getting messy.
You gotta love that high z for a bit of extra zing too Want some real oomph on the bottem end - hit the low z for some trouser shaking action
I bet the Roscoe tuned system will be perfect though - vive la difference

But, since you have made mention of my "Twins" I guess I'll have to post a thread about 'em now. |

I had considered upgrading my LG to the Demeter pre, but since that's not an option anymore I'm curious about how bart/Audere might work out.
