Progress Pics - It's Here!

Just got the shot of the body from Gard today. Can't wait!

It started out as a fretless project but I'm so damn indecisive, after about 5 different spec changes I decided on these specs. I have always wanted a fretted 6'er with these specs so i decided to run with it. I will worry about a fretless later:

* SKB 3006
* Ash body
* Maple burl top (Or is that Myrtle?? Well...it looks good whatever it is.)
* Straight Grain Maple fb
* Wenge/Yellowheart/Maple/Yellowheart/Wenge Wedge Neck
* Nordstrands
* Aggie OBP-3
* Black Hardware

I thought the top would come out a bit darker based on the photo of the top wood, but I'm not sure if they will do anything else that will darken that up or if that's the finished deal.

Any thoughts, anyone?

Thumbs up

Beautiful!

I think the slightly darker shot of the raw wood is due to the camaera angle. A picture from the side of the routed body would probably make it look darker.

Hi XavidmanX,
I saw your bass when I was at the shop yesterday. It looks great. I saw the body hanging in the finishing room, and I especially like the burls near the neck pocket on the upper horn. I also really like the wenge/yellowheart/maple on the neck. The contrast between the wenge and the maple fretboard is really cool. This should be an edgy, bright sounding bass with the maple/ash/maple fb + Nord/Aggie combo. Those 6er necks intimidate me a little, they look so wide. Just more bass to love, though. The wedge neck is really impressive on a 6er.

Not too sure...I just know it's "close" according to Jay ab Blueberry Hill and Gard. This is the first shot I've seen...still haven't seen what the neck looks like but I'm excited about the wood combo. Now I just have to sell my left nut to pay this off and grab that vintage Fender I've been eyeing...

Not yet

Based on Gard's last estimate, I'm looking at somewhere around 2-5 weeks from now. I'm hoping it's on the shorter end of that though...

Ducking might be appropriate at this time...

...actually, time-wise, I'm estimating shipping Tony's bass in ~3 weeks.

As long as I get that quality time in before school starts back up again then I will be pretty happy.
