PUP heights

Folks,

Just picked up a used (barely - looks like it just came out of the box) fretless LG 3005. The pup heights seem kinda screwy to me - for instance, the height under the G at the aft end of the bridge pup is only 1/32. I'll adjust them to my ear, but am wondering what the standard (i.e factory setup) or usual (players' choice) heights are.

Thanks,

Kim

IIRC, I like it about 2/32" on the G side, and 3/32 on the B, of course with the strings fretted at the last fret for measurements.

I typically initially set all of mine to .125" from the bottom of the strings to the top of the P/U's with the strings fretted at the 24th fret. I then adjust as required (typically slightly more distance on the "B" side) to help balance the huge sounding Roscoe "B" string with the other strings.

You also have to factor in how hard you play.
