Question Question about DR's and string height

I put a new set of DR Sunbeams on my LG3005 yesterday and noticed during practice that my action was a good bit higher than with my previous strings. Today I lowered the height at the bridge, but couldn't get it as low as before without buzzing, especially on the B and E strings. I'm wondering if the higher tension of the DR's increases the forward bow of the neck, and if so should I tweak the truss rod a little to get lower action? Thanks

I'd say that there was definitely some difference in tension, and that has bowed the neck. However, you should definitely check to be sure, either sight the neck or use the string as a straight-edge to see if there actually is a bow (unless you've already done this and it is confirmed, that is!).

From the info you have here, I'm guessing you're right, you need to put a little more tension on your trussrod.

Feel free to give me a shout at the shop (not today, of course! ) if you have any questions:

Thanks so much for the response, that makes me feel much better knowing it's a simple fix. I did sight the neck and noticed a slight bow. So I would give it about 1/8-1/4 turn to correct it, right? Thanks for you help!

I always make adjustments to my trussrod in small increments, giving it time to "settle" before checking and re-adjusting, so yeah, 1/8 turn is probably about right...

Glad to help!
