| | | | I do a lot of different things and have never had a problem with my main instrument which, as said before has one PU and no electronics.
I think the "versatility" thing is not really what it's said to be when it comes to instruments.
When it's said about players it's a different story I recon.

This may sound strange, but when a bass is advertised as versatile, I don't care about that.
I rather have another bass for another sound. Or music style.
And yes, I'm going to ask if thy can place the one pickup between the space of the normal two.
I'm not bashing anyones instrument, but pesonally I like basses with only one pickup. Always served me well.
Heck, I removed the J pickup from my expensive Tony Franklin and left an empty cavity, that's how OCD I am about it. |
That's me too.
I want the tone to come from my hands.
I don't want to rely on a pre-amp to color my tone. ( That's just me)
On passive pickup, right to the jack, or maybe just a volume knob? |

Yup, that's my wood you're seeing there.
Greg, downpayment is coming as soon as possible. Eh, banks.
I'd be happy to play CrashClints firewood.

Not that long ago, wood like that was tossed in most cases because it didn't have straight enough grain to make furniture with. Actually, probably still happens - a woodworker friend told me that he gets nice pieces by raiding (with permission) the scrap piles at furniture factories (well, that's probably in the past around here, since all the factories seem to be gone now).
Amazing depth of figure in that piece. Save the scraps for knobs!!!

Amazing depth of figure in that piece. Save the scraps for knobs!!! | About 6 years ago, I worked for a joiner, avoided figured wood like the plague, heh, now, I realise the amount of insane stuff we tossed, or chopped into scraps, plugs, shavings for rabbit hutches, and firewood, espcially quilted mahogany......

I would like that as the top and back and maybe a piece of walnut for the core. |

We just need to figure out wich wood must be used for the neck.
And than it's about 4 months I guess.
Greg and Gard have been very helpful to me.
Man, these guys really care about their customers and fellow bass players. |
