I was checking out his site and he has in stock a Century Standard 5. This bass appears to be a lower level Roscoe product, by that I mean, the neck is one color, the body is a solid color (black), but the electronics seem to be Roscoe standard.
The bass is priced somewhat lower then what I paid, for my LG3000. Is this a new line for Roscoe?
After visiting the Roscoe site, I'm finding it difficult to figure this out. I know my LG is hand crafted and has significantly more detail in the finish, but from a sound and playability perspective, what are the differences I could expect. Might I be disappointed in this bass, based on the high standard to which I would be comparing it to?
Thanks guys!

fishheadjoe,
Looking at the site info I'd say quality & construction would be the same without the normal body, neck woods and carved top options.
Based on our top of the line Century Signature series bass, the Century Standard shares the same body shape and quality of construction, by the same builders, at a more affordable price. All pricing is “street” or “out-the-door” pricing, and includes a single gigbag.
Sandard Features on Century Standard Basses
34" Scale - 24 Frets (4 string models only)
35" Scale - 24 Frets (5 & 6 string models)
Large Flat Body with Extended Upper Horn
Swamp Ash Body
3 Piece Maple Neck
Lightweight Hipshot tuning keys in satin chrome
US Hipshot “A” Bridge
Hand carved GraphTech nut
9 volt dual-pickup Bartolini electronics with volume, blend, bass and treble
Available fingerboards: Maple, Rosewood, Lined Fretless Diamondwood
Available colors: Natural, Tobacco Sunburst, Red, Onyx with White Grain Enhancement
Single Gigbag (Optional case/gigbag: Case, add $75, Double Gigbag add $50)

Looks like the resident Roscoeheads have managed to jump in and handle things pretty well so far, so I haven't much to add to the conversation...
jzbass pretty much nailed it, the concept of the Century Standard is to give all of the "meat and potatoes" aspects of what makes a Roscoe bass a "Roscoe bass", and none of the fancier aspects (fancy carved wood tops, crazy options for fingerboards and colors, different pickup and preamps). It is made in the same shop by the same guys (nothing is made overseas or even in a different shop!), just less of the handwork that is done to the high end LG/SKB/Century Signature models, and none of the fancy stuff. Like I said, "meat and potatoes".
I've played quite a few of these as we work through the stages of getting production started, and so far, they are freakin' amazing! Tons of tone, and they play great! Not going to give up my babies for one, but I'll definitely say they are every bit a Roscoe bass, and if I were not doing what I do, and was out "there" in the "real world", I'd absolutely have one or two of these in my gigbag.
I know your local guy will be getting another couple of these sometime either late next week or early the following week, so definitely get in touch with him!
