Roscoe clips Megathread (soon to be)!!!

Alright guys, post clips of your Roscoe here so we can know where they are all at.

Heres the latest song from my band (original song), which I recorded with my Roscoe. This is straight into a Presonus Firepod, with only EQing done onboard. Nothing else done after that.

Now if only I had a way to record my bass into my computer.

Anyone have any fairly decent, somewhat economical suggestions??

Then ya could all laugh at my playing.

You guys may have heard this before....posted it this spring.

This is an arrangement I did of a Praise & Worship chorus called Grace Flows Down -- just me and my Roscoes! The bass line and harmonics were on my fretted SKB 5, and the melody and background lines were done on my fretless SKB 5.......

That's what I have in mine too. It works for recording bass direct?? PM me if you get a chance, so we don't hijack the thread.

Thanks
Ryan

Just sounds really good in the clips. It's the compression of the Bart pre's that I don't like under my fingers but it certainly sounds great in your clip.

The Bart preamp has a definite signature sound -- it's there in your clip Shivering.

And I'm glad my clip makes you shiver!

Bart Pre

I must admit - the more I listen the more I like the Bart sound, I don't find it too compressed at all. Of my two basses the Spanish Ceder Myrtle bass has lots of clarity without being too "zingy" allowing as much string grind to the sound as I allow by playing technique. I really do not use the tone controls that much at all - maybe a bit of bass to beef up in a live situation, that's all.

Yes, that compression is not so disturbing to me, it can even be handy for slap part.
The point which realy bother me is that muted high end.
The clip I've posted here is made with a Roscoe LG3005 with the following woods :
ash body with exhib quilted maple top
standard 3 pieces Roscoe neck
birdseye maple fingerboard.
Ken smith stainless strings.

This should make for a very bright bass but as you've heard it, it is not realy the case.

That's why my Bart pre soon to be replaced by a new Glockenklang onboard pre that I've recently acquired.
I'm so impressed by my Glock. rig that I'm realy exited to hear that pre.

A demeter would probably do the trick as well, no?

A Demeter would work as well, yes. That pre has an added top end that works really well with Bartolini pickups.

Yes, the dem. pre would have been the best solution since it has already been tested and approved by many users but :

1) it is realy expensive (I'm in France so you must add international shipping...)

2) It would have required some work on the bass since it needed a spare hole, it meant for me sending my bass back to Roscoe (160$) or have it made by a local luthier which is a bit stressing.

3) I'm realy exited to try that Glock. pre !

I would like to hear some samples when you have that pre fitted and also your conclusions on the sound differences from the Bart.

Poptear,

No problem, as soon as it will be done, I plane to record a new soundclip in the same conditions to have a A/B test and I'll post it here.

Basso,

I wanted to tell you that your song moved me deeply. It is seriously sweet, with a haunting, yet very tender melody and a very nice touch. I could feel the spirit and I wanted to thank you! Very nicely done.
