I listened to them and man, have I ever got a lot of work to do... this stuff is nothing like what I'm used to... some of it is stand up bass which is really cool, but gonna be quite a challenge for me and my limited abilities.

My only concern was its slap tone but since I've installed Delano pickups and a glockenklang pre, it is much much better imho. I will be confident in bringing only a Roscoe in a studio.
You can judge by yourself my roscoe in action at www.myspace.com/shiveringmusic

Anyone else play blues with their Roscoe? Better yet, what style do you play?
Fishheadjoe | I mainly play blues and old-school R&B. I love the Roscoes for blues. The fretted sixer has that big P-bass-y bottom and sits well in a mix with one or more loud guitars or horns. It's got tons of sustain, which is nice for slower tunes. I'm also finding I like the fretless sixer's earthy meaty sound for some smaller groups with a less dense mix. I can get it to sound just like an upright acoustic, mainly since its body wood is Spanish Cedar. It doesn't have as much sustain as the fretted, which is to be expected, and it'd get lost in a busy mix.
Hope this helps. Remember, if you're playing the blues and you're thinking real hard, you're doing it wrong.
Check out Johnny B. Gayden's work on Albert Collins' Alligator Records releases to hear the blues bass done right.

I did play every bass at the shop searching for the ultimate marshall killing B string, and i'm happy with the end result.

That is all.
Actually, no its not, I just wanted to say, contrary to most, I love its slap tone. Though I'm one of the few that thinks a P sounds better slapped than a Jazz, so take that for what its worth.

I use it as much as possible in anything I play. The only time I don't use it is if I need more of a percussive sound or if I'm playing a lot of octives. My fretted bass (Peavey Cirrus) allows for the better intonation that my semi decent playing doesn't perfect on those octive type songs (Hotel California).
But some day I'll replace the Peavey with a fretted Roscoe most likely.
Oh... the original question... duh!
I play mostly classic rock, Motown, old R&B and a sprinkling of disco, current rock, dance, rock/blues. |

The Roscoe just sounds awesome in pretty much any genre. Here's the goods:
