Roscoe Icon/Skyscraper 6

Wow, just go this baby via Fedex at work today! Its a 2000 model that was a custom job per the old owner. I've always been a big fan of the "Older" Skyscraper body styles a'la Kim Stone. Has the inlays that were found on those too! Here is a pic and specs. I've not had a chance to plug her in yet but I'll comment when I do!

This is from the previous owner:

Roscoe Icon:

*Exhibition Myrtle top...serial 4173(made in 2000)
*Cedar body
*Custom body (skyscraper style)
*Spalt Purpleheart board
*Oval inlays (Larry Robinson did these as Keith was not set up to do them at
the time)
*Custom fingerboard extension and curve
*Polished ivory nut
*Aguilar OP-1 pre Bart pu's
*Custom case.....inside had to be made special for it.

Well, got a chance to play this thing last night at church and then for about 2 1/2 hours at home. What a monster! Killer playability and feel for a 6'r. Spacing is great for slapping and the body hangs just right when strapped on so that the 35in scale feels like a 34 Very even all the way up and down the neck. Neck Body Joint is super too...no gaps!

The tone is very, very focused and even. The bass has the Aguilar OBP-1 boost only 2 band installed. Then mids are very punchy but not harsh when rolled to the back pickup via fingerstyle. Slap sounds great with a bit of the Treble increased and pups apnned center...although I'm finding the Aguilar to be a bit noisy. Seems to be a bit of static present when even boosted a little. Also there is a bit of noise from the pre, even when it is not being played...kinda like a fluttering sound. I'm going to change the batteries and hope that goes away. Otherwise I may go either a Bart pre or even contact Jim Williams Audio upgrades.

All-in all this is a fine bass in tone, playability and the Vintage Bodystyle just gives it a really cool vibe!

She's Sweet!
