I'm gonna try my fretless in church this weekend. I've been playing it of a few weeks now so I think I can pull it off without too many pitch issues.

So far the stock nickel rounds seem to sound best - to me.

I love the fretless in church. I think I'll play the 6 string Century on Sunday.

So true, Gard.

Playing a duo gig tonight with a wonderful guitarist. I'll play the Century 3005 fretted bass. There is a blues jam session later tonight and I'll go there from my gig and sit in so the house bassist, who is a close friend, can hear the Roscoe.

I bought a Wilfer Gentleman's Jazz bass from Lemur music in February of last year. That superior bass has had a very positive impact on my playing.

Then I made a trade for my Century 6 fretless. That superior bass has had a very positive impact on my playing.

I just recorded a metal song with my MM LG Standard. It's funny how well it went from a country gig to full on death metal!

It sure does. I really like the JB pup placement on my fretless for playing jazz stuff, soloing on standards, etc. but I'm not sure yet if a fretless will be something I will make use of - will see after I try it at church on Sunday.

I'm thinking that after I get E064 in the house (&#128522 I may try stringing the fretless E-C and see how it goes. If I like the E-C but not the fretless I could see some finagling in the future for a fretted JB E-C Century Standard Plus 5 in my future...

Then again, if I like the fretless (B-G) in church...

Don't know if I'll switch strings. The fretless sounded amazing at church. Everyone who touched it loved it. Another bass player even commented on how he didn't miss the frets...not sure how much I do either.

Obviously a very open minded one!

I was happy with how it went. With a little aggressive right hand I even had the click of "frets" on a couple occasions. Used the mwah a time or two as well.

I have been playing only fretless since I got it. I could see using it a lot. Still want/need a fretted, but I can see why guys decide to go 100% fretless - if your bass is good enough.

Hey, you left it there, I just took advantage of it!

And I've been pretty much all-fretless for several years now. I am actually getting ready to add a 5 string fretted soon....once the "old house" sells and I have a few bucks to spare.

I knew you had a sweet fretless but I guess I didn't realize that you were using it almost exclusively. I'm a little surprised how much I like it. I thought it may just sit waiting for jazz gigs but after this morning in church, I'm not so sure. If only it were a pound lighter... :-)

I've been a "no-speedbump" guy for about 12 years now as a primary choice.

I don't know if I'll even play my fretted Koa when it's finished...

OK, maybe that's just crazy talk but man does this fretless play and sound amazing.

It's not that bad....

I am really loving the fretless and the JB placement. I thought for a minute about changing the pups on the fretted they are building for me but I'm going to stick with the CB's in that one. Nice to have some variety.

Wise choice, I think. The JB setup suits the fretless perfectly, while the CBs in the classic Roscoe placement make for a killer fretted bass.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Jeff. I agree. I love this placement for fretless. I was noodling around before bed last night and it just kills on that bass. I'm sure the mahogany body and diamondwood board play a part as well.

That said, I am anxious to see some more pics and eventually play/hear the CB fretted Koa!

OK, number 4 is shipping today. This one is an SKB Custom 3005 with an exhibition quilt maple top, swamp ash body and Pau Ferro fingerboard. This one has the standard Bartolini electonics in it.

The guy I bought it from bought it new on a close out with the intention of flipping since he already owns 3 Roscoe basses.

Played the fretless SKB 3005 in church yesterday. Mighty fine!

Chuck...you have definitely been bitten by the bug! I wish I could find used Roscoes to help with the budget, but I seem to nave a thing for having one built for me - even thought they are "just" Standard Plus models, there's something about selecting my exact spec that I like - even though it means a wait.

I was fortunate that the fretless I bought at Christmas time (even though it was new) was basically the exact spec I would have ordered. I am patiently awaiting my Koa/Ash/Birdseye Century Standard Plus 5 CB/Bart bass.

It's hard not to GAS for as many Roscoes as possible. I think my 3rd might be a Century Standard Plus 5 with the 3J/Bart electronics. Wenge board, maple neck, ash body and either a quilt maple or bubinga top and of course, black hardware.

I have played my fretless in church the last 2 Sundays and it is fantastic.
