I've fallen in love with a Roscoe LG 5-string. I borrowed my friend Ben's bass to check it out and I just love playing it. Feels great, plays great, sounds great!
It's number 3165, beautiful figured maple over mahogany with beautiful med-dark finish, with spalted ebony sapwood/heartwood board.
Can anyone tell me the date on this one? If I can't talk him out of it I'm going to have to find one like it.
Thanks all,

The bass is probably mid 90's and Roscoe didn't keep great records back then. If you can e-mail Gard some pictures I'm sure with his discriminating eye he'll be able to provide you some details on woods, electronics, etc..
IMHO...there is nothing that comes close to a Roscoe for the best combination of tone and playability.
Good luck with your search. |

Gard will be able to give you a ball park time frame that it was made in. Whether it has the Wilkenson or HipShot bridge will also help date it too, along with the scarf neck joint as the neck joins the headstock. that would put it in the late 80's or early 90's.
I wouldn't struggle to much on trying to talk your buddy out of his though. There's plenty of great ones out there and Roscoes are are one of the more consitant playing and sounding basses.
Good luck! |

If so, there just happens to be one or two in the f/s section right now.

As for specs, as has already been said, if you can e-mail (info@rosoceguitars.com) some photos over, we'll take a look and let you know what you're looking at on that one.

Gard, will shoot you some pics tonight.
Thanks. Great place this forum. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
