Roscoe SKB #6006 has arrived!

Thought I'd start a new thread.

Initial impression:

Beautiful
Light
Neck is amazing
B string sounds like the others
I do notice the 35" scale length just a bit.
Favor the neck pup for a more old school sound for R&B

That was after 15 minutes. I will play some more and I get to gig it Thursday. More to follow I'm sure.

The action is so low. I'm used to "digging in" a little so that's a change...I think I can get used to it :-)

What strings do you guys use? I'm guessing these are the original D'Addarios that came on the bass?
I usually use DR Hi Beams.

SIT's(nickle), Rotos(steel), D'Addario(steel or Chromes), Dunlop(nickle), all sound great on mine, IMHO.

imho where you'll "notice" the 35" scale on the SKB (and to a greater extent, the LG) is wearing a strap and down at the nut. The good news is that the B-string is so good that you can play up the neck and have it sound awesome. If you play seated, I don't think you'll notice anything at all. The bridge is fairly far back on the body which helps.

Of all the basses I've owned, I think the Roscoe had the most usable B-string up the neck, no matter what scale.

The B is amazing. Like you say, there's no need to go down passed the 5th fret. I've been playing for a few hours and the scale doesn't seem to be a big issue. We'll see after a few gigs, but regardless, I'm going to play this bass until at least December to give it a fair shot. For the awesome tone, I could just learn to live with the scale.

Played for about 4 hours yesterday. Hands feel pretty good today.

The neck feels as comfortable as any 4 string. So fast. I'm sure I will over play my first solo tomorrow night just because I can :-)

Can't wait to get home and play some more. It seems to fit any style music with simple changes in hand placement, slight eq adjustments, etc.

Mmmmm.... pull the mid pot and give a little boost to those low mids - instant growl.
