Roscoe String Spacing

Hi ... Just a quick question about the specified string spacing as found on Roscoe's website. I'm trying to compare these spacing specs and they just don't make any sense to me. For instance, the LG 3005 says the spacing is 1 - 3/4" at the nut and 2 - 7/8" at the 24th fret. It seems to me that if that is true, that would be a HUGE neck! Does that not imply that there is a full 1.75" between strings at the nut and almost 3 full inches at the 24th fret? I must be missing something. Thanks for the clarification.

Those dimensions are the with of the neck at the nut and the 24th fret not the string spacing. If I am not mistaken the string spacing on five string Roscoe"s is 19MM at the bridge.

IMUO (In my uniformed opinon), I would think that the measurements show the distance from the first string to the last string...not between each string. The "between" measurement at the bridge is what's most important to a lot of players, but many manufacturers just give you the first to last distance, since the between the strings will also vary ever so slighly based on the gauge (is that spelled right...I can never remember) of the string you use.

The standard string spacing on all of our 5 strings is 18.3mm, the nut width (overall) is 1.75". I'm at home, don't have access to all our specs, but the 5's are not 3" at the 24th fret.

Thanks ... that makes more sense now. I knew I was missing something silly somewhere. I can see how spacing could be affected by string gauge but it's still too bad that they don't publish spacing at the bridge either with the standard strings or just between the centers of the strings (which should never change). Oh well. I'll just assume it's 19mm for now. Thanks again.

I miss things when I start a post, walk away to practice, and then come back to finish the post without re-looking at the thread. Thanks Gard for the clarification on string spacing at 18.3mm. As for the 3" at the 24th fret, the website said 2 - 7/8" ... I just rounded up the extra 1/8".

I read in another post that they ordered a Century 5 model with a 19mm spacing, is this a special order option or a difference between the Century and the older models??
