Roscoe Visit

Many thanks to Gard and Keith for their hospitality today! My wife and I were down in G'boro and had some time to spare, so we stopped by the shop for a look-see. Gard was kind enough to show me around the place. Brutha-oh-brutha are there some nice basses and diamonds in the rough sitting around that place.

I learned a few things today...

Burled buckeye is a very light wood! I better understand the challenge working with the stuff.

Grizzly tools are more impressive in person than in the catalog.

My wife and I both love the look of a nice pommeled one-piece sapwood/heartwood bubinga top. *wink* Mr. Keith was finalizing a nice example of this...

Mentally designing a bass guitar makes a 2+ hour after-midnight drive home seem to go WAY faster

Oh, and unrelated to Roscoe basses, Michael Franti & Spearhead put on about as cool a live show as you'll see!

Cool!

I'm hoping to make it there late spring! I've put it off way too long.

It's got to be like a kid visiting Santa at the North Pole!

Allen, it was great having you by, wish we'd had more time to hang! Glad the trip home went safely, and the show was good!

Please stop by anytime you're in the area again....Bob, Joe, looking forward to both of you getting by soon!

And I FINALLY get to meet Joe Saturday! Joe, how long have we been talking on the phone and via e-mail...since at least 2000, right?

Gard - would there happen to be pictures of the Bubinga-topped fretless I saw yesterday? Or, pics of any other similarly configured basses (perhaps some shots of your bass?)

I need drool fodder

I'm sure that Gard will chime in and post some pic's of his soon.
Until then, here's a link to some pic's of mine!

...always glad to share them of course!

Allen, sorry, no, I didn't get any pics of the SKB5 that went out yesterday, no time!

However, showing off my baby, I ALWAYS have time for that!

Thanks for the bubinga eye-candy guys! I really like the look of the maple fingerboard with the wild bubinga top! I should have looked at Greg's reserved top while I was there!
