Many thanks to Gard and Keith for their hospitality today! My wife and I were down in G'boro and had some time to spare, so we stopped by the shop for a look-see. Gard was kind enough to show me around the place. Brutha-oh-brutha are there some nice basses and diamonds in the rough sitting around that place.
I learned a few things today...
Burled buckeye is a very light wood! I better understand the challenge working with the stuff.
Grizzly tools are more impressive in person than in the catalog.
My wife and I both love the look of a nice pommeled one-piece sapwood/heartwood bubinga top. *wink* Mr. Keith was finalizing a nice example of this...
Mentally designing a bass guitar makes a 2+ hour after-midnight drive home seem to go WAY faster
Oh, and unrelated to Roscoe basses, Michael Franti & Spearhead put on about as cool a live show as you'll see!
