A Roscoe with a walnut top?

Hi Gard,

i was just wondering if Keith has ever built a roscoe with a walnut top?

I looked though the threads in this forum and didn't see any, and i didn't even really notice any dark-wood (and aren't painted a dark color) topped roscoes...are there any?

Yes, we have, and we're going to be doing some more soon. Here is a shot of the last piece we did, an SKB 3006 made with a grafted piece of wood from two different species of walnut.

Is that a piece of black walnut grafted to english walnut? I have seen several examples of black/english grafts in Lake Co. CA. My dad's neighbor harvested several old trees from various orchards in Lakeport, and milled them all to 2 in. planks.

It's possible, we never really did find out! It just looked great, and we know it was walnut...

That's gorgeous! Especially with that fretboard! Wow! (Of course, I'd be afraid to take it to a gig....)
