Smile Roscoeheads, what amps are you using??

Thought this could be fun.

What amp do you use and why?

Here mine:

Gallien Krueger 1001RB-II with TL Audio 5051 Mono Valve Processor in the effect loop, into a Hartke 410XL cab.

I'm thinking of replacing the TL Audio with a Markbass compressore and replacing the 410XL cab with the new Hartke HyDrives (2 4x10 cabs).

And yes, I need an updated picture with my Roscoe next to me rig.

Marshall MB450-H and matching 1x15 cab. (Sadly, like yourself, no pic of it with the Roscoe)

Very versatile, can do the deep, thick, vintage tube sound, bright clear modern tones, dirty grindy distortion, via its two channels, and you can blend the clean channel with the vintage/dirty one.

Oh, and even though I use a lot of highs, that tweeter has been turned off, for a loooooong time, think I could be happy if I never come across one again.

Thunderfunk 550B and Berg HT112 or Epi UL112.

I've tried so many combinations and always come back to the Tfunk/Berg 112 combo. It's such a punchy tone with very musical mids that cut through any live mix.
The great thing about the Tfunk is that just a slight twist of the Timbre and/or enhance control can translate you into a totaly different sound. Totally plug and play!

Sorry, I don't have a photo of my rig, but here are some images of each:

Old (pre-US Music) Eden WT550

Old (pre-US Music) Eden 210MBX

Epifani UL310 Series II

I'm pretty content with my tone, I wish the 210MBX was a bit less hefty (it's a good 25-30 lbs heavier than the Epi), otherwise, I don't see anything changing for me...

no pics on this machine, but i currently play through:

Carvin B1500 into 2 Acme LowB2s. Jome77--that's a nice setup you have, i enjoyed my TF420 for the same reasons--just didn't have quite enough power for me, so i moved to the carvin.

Cause it sounds bitch'in.

The DB750 is awful heavy, and the DB112's are not the easiest to carry around, but that in no way out weighs the pluses. It was exactly what I was looking for tone wise.

BM, that is just downright sexy. Not just the rig, but the bass too...I loves me some spalted maple. I need to wipe my brow and go take a cold shower.

I've recently played through a DB750 and a number of Aguilar cabs, and the sound is nothing short of amazing. Every Roscoe - mine and others - that I played through these combos just sounded like a gazillion bucks.

I tend to mix & match a bit, depending on the gig. I haven't really been using my Epifani stuff these days, though. For small gigs, the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0-12T has been an absolute blessing. Great (great!) sound, small footprint, and amazing light weight. (32lbs with the single 12", and another 28 for the extension cab. Two 12's and plenty of oomph in a 60lb package...ridiculous.)

Earlier this year I lucked into deals on two Aguilar GS112's and a GB ShuttleMAX12.0. That combo is devastating, although I've yet to gig with both cabs. The beefy low end and slightly scooped mids of those cabs is a great match for the mid-happy amp, and the Roscoes just sound awesome.

Of course, there is nothing like the Epifani sound...clean, pure, a bit bottom-heavy, and gobs of headroom. I still use my 410 cab for large rooms, and like Gard, I'm a big fan of the UL310. Two of those things will move some serious air.

On to the good stuff...

SKB 3006 (fertile myrtle) thru Epi 502 & UL310

SKB 3006 (burl maple - Aggie pre) thru Epi 502 & UL310

SKB 3005 FL (Aggie pre) through GB Shuttle 6.0-12T + ext. cab

Current setup

This is what I'm currently using:
Carvin PB-500, what could probably be considered 'vintage' at this point.
Acme Low B2, Series II

The Ampeg is there for the DI only - this was the setup we recently used in the studio, and it belongs to Chuck Crush (owner of an abosulutely lovely black Rickenbacker).

Sorry, no pics right now, but I'm running the TC RH450 and a Berg AE410 and after many hours of twistin knobs, I'm finally able to get the sound I hear in my head.
I should mention that the challenges I was facing were almost completely user error as I was coming from the passive bass world into the world of so many knobs, that allow for so many tonal options... I think I over loaded my tiny little, barely funtional brain.
Once I decided to keep my bass settings static, I was able to dial in a tone that will work for me! I guess I'm just not good with too many options! LOL

Please excuse the Warwick, I need to update my rig pic with my Roscoe(s). My rig is a tad prehistoric, so everything weighs a ton (). But it sounds GREAT!!

The Alembic F1X is the heart of it, such a terrific preamp. The Crest CA6 is 60lbs and 600W of clean, massive power. The cabs are Genz-Benz 410-XB and 115-XB2, both 4-ohm.

With the F-1X's built-in crossover, I run full range through Channel A of the Crest in the 410 cab, but I send only 150Hz and below through Channel B to the 115. When I need a little more ooomph to make some folks dance, I just turn up Channel B and drive the 115 harder. If there is a brown note, this rig can deliver it.

LOL. I don't even know why I still cart that thing around. It's not wired up, powered up or anything. Shows you how much I care about weight, eh? It'd take all of 5 minutes to undo the screws and shave 5-10 lbs, and I can't even be bothered to do that.

Heck yeah, post it. It's much more of an accomplishment to put together a nice-sounding rig on a limited budget. Any half-wit can put together a decent-sounding rig by p*ssing away a small fortune and selling off what doesn't work. I oughta know. On behalf of myself and the other half-wits, we salute you.

My rig is pretty much what's in my signature, and the signal path is roughly in the order the gear's listed, with everything plugged into the Furman and a Korg tuner as the final piece in the chain so I can A/B between two basses and use its mute. I'll use the TPS II as a DI, typically. I seldom have use for more than one Low B4; typically the Low B2 is adequate for gigs.

I keep the power amps in a separate rack so I don't have to lug them into the studio where I don't need an amp or cabinet. I'm switching to a Crown Xti4000 for power, so the K2's are soon to be retired. Great amps, but too heavy for the few times I have need for that much power.

I don't use the Phil Jones Flight Case much. It stays at the girlfriend's house for when the guitarist next door wants to come over and jam on the front porch, or the nephew comes over and wants me to fire something up.

Another no pic

I went a different direction. I'm 52 and needing to save the back. I'm using the Phil Jones Flight Case. 24 lbs. and 150 watts very clean power. I have a Roscoe SKB 3005 and an MTD. My main gig is at my church and I run through the PA. The cool thing about the amp is it's signed by Mr. Jones- I met him at Perfect Bass when I bought my amp. Really nice guy. I have one effects pedal. BBE Sonic Stomp Sonic Maximizer. Its great for beefing up your tone.

Here's mine. I also use a Mesa Fathom but find the DB750 a bit tighter on the bottom and fatter on the top, so I use that most of the time. The bottom cab is blue sparkle (from the factory back when they used to have sparkle vinyl upgrades) and a 210 that will be blue sparkle when I have the time. I could easily do most gigs with just the 212 but what fun would that be? The 10s on top make it easier to hear against a loud drummer and guitar player. Or for real small gigs, just the 210s work great.

Yeah. I've had a couple of the F1-X pre's. They sound so nice and warm. I just got tired of lugging a rack around.

I'm sure that's a killer sounding rig!
