Me, I have Roto Swing 66's on mine, good agressive tone, not too happy about them being steels, and freteaters, but they were all I could get locally, and I'll be ordering something new this week, Optima Golds, hopefully.

I like Dunlop Stainless Steel Lights- very bright and slinky but strong enough for the Roscoe. I think Rotosound SM665 would be good too (very similar gages vs the Dunloap lights).

I typically kill sets of regular strings (e.g. Slinkys, R.Coccos, DRs) in a few days...
I've recently been thinking of going even lighter, but the .125 B is the thinnest Elixir makes. I figure a .40-.95 set would feel weird next to a .125 B. |

I have to order my strings as well.

| | | | Fantastic Tomastic I prefer the sound of flatwounds, so I go with TI Jazz flats. I would like to try the DR flats. Anyone used them before want to tell me what you thought of the soud you can get with them. |

Being new to 35" scale, I'm thinking of dropping down to a set of .040s on my next string change... just to try it. |

I've been interested in trying a set of them too.
Optima only have a .125 B, I'm used to heavier, and I don't know what the tension will be like, they're high tension on the 4 string sets, but the B might not be high enough.

I just put a set on a used Warwick that I sold recently, and they were pretty cool strings. So I asked DR about them this morning, and they said they are essentially DR Hi-Beams with a coating on them. I was hoping he'd say they did the black coating in nickel, too, but no go. |

They're a little more expensive that HiBeams/LoRiders, but not a ton more... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
